Default Strange Pet???

My 15 year old daughter loves all animals. She has had several pets but now she has topped them all. She has a pet RAT! I went to the pet store and she just fell in love with "Cleo". I never knew the pet store even sold rats!
It must be just me but am I the only one who finds a pet rat as strange?

I've heard they make great pets. I use to work at a vet's office and a client would bring in her pet rat riding on her shoulder. Very cute.

My kids had rats when they were kids. I can't stand them or anything that looks like them. I am so afraid of them it isn't funny. They loved them though and all the babies we got were sold to the pet store and we never had to buy a thing for our African Grey parrot!

When I was in my early 20's I had a pet rat. She was blind but very trusting. I also had two cats and for some reason they all got along well when I would take her out of her cage. I highly recommend them!

A rat from the pet store? I guess it's not that strange. I am pro-hamster, so I guess I can't say much lol.

Personally I wouldn't consider a rat as a pet, but if your daughter likes it - let it be. Just make her to take care of it.

A good friend of mine has had pet rats in the past. She absolutely swears by them and is in love with them. They are apparantly really friendly and make great pets. She even has hairless rats. Which, honestly, I find them hideous. I may be able to get around the idea of having a pet rat, but if it's hairless get it away from me!! lol
