Default Have you heard? New direct sales certificate program!

I think this is very exciting! There will be a Direct Selling Certificate program available through community colleges starting in the spring of 2012. A free pilot program starts in a couple weeks.

I think certification will further legitimize direct sales as a serious, professional business.

What do you think?

I'm looking forward to hearing how the pilot goes. I think it's a great idea to have an educational program. So many people don't understand how direct sales really works.

Hi Jessica. The Direct Selling Certificate program is brand new and specifically includes "direct selling-specific learning.” I believe some community colleges already offer a more general small business certificate.

You're right Loretta, and I think on top of not really understanding how it works, many people who go into direct sales have little or no business or sales experience. This type of program can go a long ways towards building those skills.

Sounds like a good idea. Direct selling is BIG in my area, but I still think we could all benefit from learning the ins and outs and not so much guessing. Plus that should be attractive to new recruits.

Where is the pilot program at? I would have totally done it too. I love direct sales and sounds like this certificate will give people better tools at being successful.

I think it sounds great! I wish there was a pilot program close to me too. I think it will help legitimize the industry in some people's eyes.

The pilot program is being offered in Massachusetts, Minnesota, and New York starting on the 17th or 18th of this month.

(I would have posted a link to more info, but I'm not sure what's allowed. Sorry.)
