Default Verbal vomit is a no no.

Have you ever been so excited about your business that you have talked incessantly and didn't notice the person's eyes glaze over? This is verbal vomit. Have you done it? I have! Guilty as charged! But I have learned from it.

In my opinion, when you meet folks for the first time, find out about who they are and what they do. How can you help them? Aren't we all problem solvers at the end of the day? I think so. Elegantly drop your business into conversation and see if they ask you more about it and show an interest.

If they do, have a well crafted elevator speech that is direct and too the point but doesn't give too many details. If the person wants to find out more, set up an appt. for further discussion.

What have you done that has bypassed verbal vomit?
