I have been reading about writing and see that you are an active participant in the discussions here. I have been in transcription online since 2008 but I typed into the company's interface and only needed ear plugs and my computer. GREAT JOB, but the company has stopped providing this service.
Phone work is kind of out, most of the jobs are selling/upselling.

To make a long story short, I care for my 80+ y.o. parents and I am looking for a job I can do when I am able. Writing sounds perfect but I am not sure what all is entailed. Do you have to have certain programs/software? What is a good rate per word for a beginner? In reading it seems to be .05/word but I may be wrong.

I transcribed for Demand Media and they hire writers also but it seems that a lot of work gets denied for those with experience and while I wouldn't mind a few denials I am beginning and I also can you submit the same article to a few companies sometimes or is this not allowed?
