Default Holiday To-Do List

Holiday To-Do List
Bet you have a long list of stuff, huh? Shopping, cooking, decorating, parties…

Somewhere on that list is there time for you?

Probably not. I mean ‘tis the season to give, right?

We confuse self care with being selfish. They are NOT the same.
And women are really bad at this. Of course, we pretend we can do it all, never ask for help, don’t like the way you help IF we even allow it and then martyr ourself the whole time. [you know- banging pots, sighing loudly, crying, overeating]

And don’t get me started on the “mind reading” thing. [“Can’t anyone see how HARD I work?”]

Yes, I’m part of that crazy club. But I’m not planning on renewing my membership.

Here’s the thing: IT’S OUR OWN FAULT. I don’t care if your family is lazy, your boss uncaring, and your paycheck too small.

People treat us the way we teach them to treat us.

We’re not 5 years old anymore. We can say no. We can choose to take care of ourselves.

Do you think people like being around a long-suffering martyr? [Do you?] I don’t care how many cookies you bake, you’re still no fun.

It might be something new, but give it a try. Take responsibility for your happiness this holiday. Put yourself on that to-do list.

This may sting, but your happiness is no one’s job but yours.

And that’s GOOD NEWS, cuz guess where that puts the power?
Right where it belongs, Peaches, right where it belongs.

To your New Now…
