Default Don't need any other reason to green up our home than this...

Oh my what a weekend!
We went to the the lake to see my parents & forgot the bath soap for my 6 month old.
She really needed a bath so we decided to give her a one with a small amount of B&BW shower gel on a rag... we would wipe her down really quickly and that would be that.
She grabbed the rag at one point & tried to suck on it like she always does and her daddy snatched it away.

Within seconds, her ear swelled up to twice its size - right before our eyes! We drained the sink & rinsed her off, got her dressed and out the door to head to town, 20 miles away.
Luckily when we got to town & checked her, she was fine - other than the one monster ear. We went to Walmart to get some benedryl & walk around a while to make sure she was ok before heading back to the boat. Seriously scared the crap out of me... I have never seen anything like that before. When we got back I grabbed the gel & looked it over only to see a mile long ingredient list.

Today it's been two days & her ear is still a little larger than the other but looking pretty much normal now.

I started focusing on green cleaners when we started with Watkins to reduce the chemical fumes in our home for the baby - but I never really thought about the enormous amount of junk in bath soap - especially the overly perfumed stuff from the specialty stores.

You won't find that crap in our home anymore.

B&BW is one of the worst. Here's a helpful link to check your lotions, shampoos, conditioners, makeup, etc.

Talk about a gray hair experience!

Glad it turned out ok!

I'm not affilated with this site at all but there's a non-profit website called cosmeticsdatabase & you can go there and type any skincare product and it will tell you what chemicals are in the product, what they can cause & also the hazard levels. I use it all the time! When I first heard about it, I was typing in everything just because I was so blown away.

Yes, thanks for the info!!

And as if Watkins heard me, today they announced they will be releasing a natural baby car line come December! I can't wait!!

Her little ear is back to normal again. We're pretty positive it was the fragrance she reacted to. We're thinking we may have her tested for allergies. She also has allergic reactions to te alcohol swabs they use before giving shots. Her entire leg breaks out in little bumps that last for two weeks after being swabbed
We had to move to iodine for those.

Default So sorry you had to go through that.

It is very scary when a child becomes so suddenly ill and the poor little things can't tell you what is wrong.

My daughter swelled up like a balloon once all of a sudden. Hey eyes were tiny slits. I ended up in the emergency room. She is a grown woman now, it never happened again and we never did find out why.

I don't sell Watkins but if they are going to be selling all natural baby products, anyone with little ones should look into it. Even if you don't get a full blown scare, who knows what insidious little ills we are inadvertently causing with the off the shelf stuff.

And now I'm off to look into my bath product...lord knows what they are doing to me.
