Hugs for you Terry
What is important is you are aware that you made a mistake and acknowledge it. It is not easy to do so and I Truly Really ADMIRE You for that...it takes a lot of courage and honesty.

The fact that you are still on your job after that, the boss must have trust you enough. So don't be so hard on your self.

Take it as a learning ground, learn from it and become the best! You can do it!

Keep on smiling. Worrying will only give you wrinkles...Edited by: Hope2BMom

I'm basically going to say what most are saying - you're human and you're going to make mistakes.Hopefully your boss will respect that you're taking responsibility (when most might try to blame someone or something else) and he'll give you a second chance. Everyone deserves one. I hope your day today is better than yesterday.

Hi! Thanks for thinking of me.
Today went a little better in a way- we didn`t hear from him at all.
Actually it`s a little scary- he didn`t return our calls or anything. I have a sinking feeling that he might be coming up here. I held my breath every time a strange car went by all day. If he shows up I know he is going to fire me.
I`ve thought about it all day, and I am starting to wonder if I should stay or not. The problem is- if he is going to threaten to fire me every time I make a mistake than this just isn`t going to work. Because I AM going to make mistakes. I do the books for all 3 of his companies, and I wing it the best I can. I have no experience whatsoever, and I am not an accountant.
I have never worked in an office before, and I havent really worked for anyone before. But- I do try my best. And I have only made a couple mistakes since I started. This one was a doozy though. All because a paper got misfiled.
I just dont know what to do.
I want this to work!!

Thanks again for the support!! I really needed it!
Terry

Terry, everyone has to start learning somewhere, but taking care of the books is a big responsibility. You've got to regroup and regain your composure, or your anxiety over the situation could easily cause an oversight again.

Minimal mistakes are one thing; a dollar or two here and there. You certainly can't blame them for being concerned about $4,000, can you?

Would it be too bold of me to ask what was the nature of this "paper" that got misfiled? Should an entry have been made somewhere before filing it, so that it would have been noticed?
