My package was stolen!

Oh I am so Mad right now! So on Wednesday I was running out of the apartment complex I live in to meet dh for his lunch hour. I saw two of my packages sitting in the mail bin that I had been waiting for. They were both large print books for my mom. One of them I was worried about because this stupid seller from Amazon would not answer a question that I had asked her about twice. Anyways I was worried about that book not being in large print so I grabbed that package totally not expecting my other package to be stolen during the hour that I was gone for my dh's lunch hour. I come back and the otherpackage was gone. I was like ok so maybe somebody just took it and did not read the address. I put up a note by the mail bins as soon as I saw that my package was missing. Today is Friday and I have still not got my package back!

While I was on my way out that day, I saw this girl that I had never seen in my apartment complex before coming in while I was going out. There are only four apartments in this complex and two of them are currently unoccupied, I had never seen this girl before and I have not seen her since. I seriously thinkthat she stole my package.

To make matters worse, the stupid seller from Amazonnever answered my question andsent me a book that was not in large print. So I had to do last minute shopping at Barnes and Noble and rebuy the book for $30, I had only spent $8 at Amazon! As for the other book, I ended up getting my mother a gift card. I am just so mad that I ended up spending $60 that I would not have spent had this not happened!

I am happy that my package was not anything expensive like an ipod or game system!

if it was insured you may be able to get something for it. even though you know it was delivered, you did not move it from the space that the mail person left it and you didn't receive it.

That's very frustrating I'm sure. Especially the stolen package. Have you reported this to anyone? Not that they can do anything about it, but maybe the police should know that someone is stealing mail... that afterall is a felony.

It is bad you have a theif among you. Is it a secured area or is it unlocked? Is there surveilence While you where leaving You mentioned a girl entering..do you need a key to get into that area?
Sorry this happened..I would be fuming.

I am sorry that has happened. You should definitely report it to your post office!

Good advice above, file a police report and talk to the post office. If people are stealing mail, they could also be stalking the complex you are in, and giving a description of the person you saw might be enough to help the police, especially if it is happening in other places close to you.
In the alternative, can you have packages delivered to you at work? At least you would probably get them if your employer doesn't object.

I did report it to the post office earlier today. They said that there isn't a whole lot that they can do about it. They told me thatit is something that happensmore often thistime of year. They did say that they would keep an eye out for similiar situations from my neighborhood.

I have not reported it to the police yet. I'm not sure if it would do much good. I just got a glance at this girl and thought that she was a friend of my neighbors. I talked to my neighbors tonight after my first post and they told me that they did not have any company that day.

I don't have surveilance and the front door was not locked. We couldkeep front door locked andmy neighbors and Icould use a key to get in. However, we have never had any problems, it is a really nice neighborhood and we have never had any problems at all while living here so us and our neighbors have never kept the door locked. Although now after talking to my neighbors about it we are going to start doing it.

I also am going to get every package either eith delivery confirmation and/or insurance from now on. This is just crazy. I have never had my mail stolen in my life!Edited by: raynasmom
