Default Need Support - Hubby Just Starting OTR Trucking

Hello,

I haven't posted in awhile but really need some support and advice. Either here or a pm would be most welcome. My husband is leaving in a week for his first time out as an over the road trucker. He will be gone about three weeks at a time. We don't have any family nearby and don't really know anyone right in our area.

If you have experience with this it would be really great if you could pm me. Or respond on this thread - either way. I am just not sure what to expect and what it will be like when he is gone and what it will be like when he is back - they are saying two days home out of three weeks.

He has been out of work since a year ago January except for going to school for driving so we are very used to having him around.

Thanks!

Kari

I don't have the exact experience but my husband and I lived in separate countries for three years, so I am very used to going through long periods without him. It will be a big change at first. Just make sure to really enjoy the time when he is home

My husband is also a truck driver. When he started he had overnighters.
I found that if I stay busy, time goes fast. Also, you can skype, or do hangouts ... makes it easier if you can see him.

If you are home fulltime... find something to bring in a bit of money, even if its just enough for kindle books... something to keep you busy and that will get a smile on your face.

Hang in there, like all things, it takes a bit of getting used to.
