I know many of you have done cleanses. Has anyone bought theirs at GNC or another health food store...or have you gotten them online?

I would like to try this - I have been polluting my body lately with way too much garbage! This weekend was the icing on the cake (no pun intended).

I want to look better in my little black dress when we go to NYC (in 10 days). Plus, I just want to feel better and get back on track big time. i think I am going ot throw myself back into TJ too.

Okay, so I would need to start the cleanse lik today or tomorrow the latest, which is why I need to get mine at the store if I can. I see that GNC offers many types and I don't know what would be best.

Any ideas?

TY ladies!!!

Hello,

I've been on the verge of doing the same thing (never have before). I did a Google search "colon cleansing" and found a web site www.internal-cleansing.com and they rate the products out there. They rated a product "Enuvia" the best overall. I think that's the one I'm going to go with. Don't know about what GNC offers. Hope this helps!

~ Debi ~ 05-29-2007 09:52 AM

Thanks so much!!!!!I appreciate your research Vilma. I could have done that (not being lazy - I swear!!)- but I thank you for taking the time to help me!!

No problem...

I'm here to help!!!

I am in the early phase of an Isagenix cleanse. (Check my blog). I have done lots of others over the years, including water fasting. Isagenix makes the most sense to me on so many levels, but you can't buy it at GNC. Best delivery would be end of the week if you chose delivery byFredEx.

I like it because its not just a pill to take. It addresses all of your intake during the cleanse period, and during the "rest periods" between cleanses. It provides products that do not have "toxic issues" so that you really give you body a chance to rest and recharge while you cleanse. It is "gently intense" but not hard (at least for me). It is nutritionally supported. It is not a colon cleanse, which is fine but only part of the puzzle. If you buy it, the person you buy it through is your "coach" and makes sure you have the right information available as well as someone to call with questions. Thisis a bigger issue than you might suspect if you have never done it before. Any real cleanse will have some side effects, and it is helpful to have someone tell you the difference betweem healthy and unhealthy side-effects.

I have always liked water fasting. I think I like this more.

[stopping now before I get carried away].

raynasmom 05-29-2007 02:38 PM

I know of another cleanse that isvery similarIsagenix, just 10 times cheaper, lol. It has pretty much the same ingredients and is done the same way. You do the cleanse drink on 2 days, two shakes and a meal 5 days, and cleanse drink for another 2 days. You do have thebuy thepowder that is used for the cleanse drink online. When I ordered it, ittookthree or four days to get it Fed Ex. PleasePM me if you want the details, I don't want to post it on a message board. Edited by: raynasmom

Yogi 05-29-2007 02:44 PM

Same 30 day programworth of food and cleasning products for $24.90 ? I would like details !!

raynasmom 05-29-2007 02:48 PM

Yogi, I am happy to send you the info but could you pm me your email addy? I have all the info in a pdf file.

Thanks!

Edited to say that itis not the exact same, it just very very similar to the 9 day program and will save you a lot of money. It equals out to be about $12 per cleanse after you buythe stuff you need for it.Edited by: raynasmom

Kitt B Fit 05-29-2007 04:40 PM

Hi Meg,

I'd like to get the information too, please?

If you are comparing it to "I" and purporting it to be "similar but cheaper", as someone whose livelihood is this program, I'd like to get the details.

If the program is only similar in the time frame, I don't think the comparison is a fair claim to make- especially when you are claiming it is "very, very simliar".

Does the program include 240+ nutrients and trace minerals? Is it organic and all-natural? Does it include live digestive enzymes, adaptogens, probiotics?
Is it monitored by a panel of medical professionals? Does it replace 68 meals with 100% of the nutrition required by the body? Undenatured whey protein? Natural accelerators? Blood sugar regulation? Money back guarantee?

Is there a list of ingredients in the pdf that you have?
Please email to

Thanks!

To your best health,

Kitt, It is very very similar in that it contains all the same ingredients plus more of what the Isagenix cleansefor lifedrink contains. I will email you the info and let you know how you can compare the nutritional information.Edited by: raynasmom

All I know about cleanses right now is the Mastercleanse. I did it for 15 days and it's been a week since I've been off it. I MISS IT!!!

I do have a friend who loves the Isagenix cleanse.

I like how that yearlong detox looks!! I'm going to copy and paste it so I don't lose it. :) Thanks Vilma!

I did the Dr. Natura cleanse for one month. I really didn't see any big improvements in my health, but it was easy. I have also tried the Isagenix, but only made it halfway. I tried during a very stressful time of my life and couldn't handle it! But I find the Isa shake very yummy!

Angie

Mothermomtotwo 05-30-2007 04:48 AM

I'd like to hear about this cleanse also! I had great luck w/ 'I' last summer. If something works as good and tastes as good and is cheaper, I'm in!

Kitt B Fit 05-30-2007 06:39 AM

Meg & All,

This program has very very little in common with "I" other than the fact that it is 9 days.

It has no protein. ZERO protein. When starved of protein for any length of time, the body begins to cannibalize lean muscle.

There is a lot of sugar in this program. Basically, the "cleanse" consists of depriving your system of protein and nutrition while consuming sugar and some vitamins.

The developer has taken copyrighted material from "I" and is using this in the pdf, as well as making dangerous and fraudulent claims.

Caveat Emptor!

--Kitt

jnmurra 05-30-2007 07:23 AM

Someone sent me a copy to look over. I will say that it would NOT be a cleanse that I would choose to do, but technically it does have protein. With the "shakes" that is used, there's about 10 grams of protein per shake, which only = 20 grams per day, so for the healthy meal, you'd have to make sure to eat a good source of protein. BUT you are right - those shakes are loaded with sugar and I believe they also contain aspartame http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif
And on the 4 cleansing and fasting days (I think there are 4), I guess you could get a little protein from the juice you use to mix the powder, but again, it wouldn't be too much because most veggie and/or fruit juices aren't a good source of protein. But when someone is fasting, they're usually not worried about that, are they? I'm asking honestly because I don't know - I've never fasted.

Yogi 05-30-2007 07:33 AM

Cleansing and fasting are different. This is NOT afast. IMHO it is worse. At least in a fast your system can shut down and rest.
But where do you get the 10 g of protein per shake from? Vitamin powder has zero and Slimfast Optima has 2g???

raynasmom 05-30-2007 07:39 AM

You do not have to use the shakes that are listed in it. There are lots of shakes out there, if you justdo some research.Try GNC, they havea lot of different kinds of shake products there that don't have all the sugar and have a lot of protein. Do some research, compare nutritional info, I'm sure you will find something that will work for you.

You do not have to fast all day on the cleanse days. You can eat celery, a hand full of almonds, a small salad, veggies, it is not going to change anything if you do.

Ah I knew that this would turn into some sort of argument, I should have never posted. This is not mycleanse, I did not thinkitup. I am very happy that somebody did do the research and found something similar.I only decided to share it withall of you because it workedfor me andsaving money is saving money! All I am saying is that it is over $100 cheaper and it has worked very well for me and countless others. Edited by: raynasmom

jnmurra 05-30-2007 08:03 AM

Yogi, I was looking at the canned Optima - it has 10g. Probably could get more with the powder if you add it with milk. Or are you supposed to mix it with water? I don't know as I didn't read too much of the cleanse pdf. I just kind of skimmed it. And I'm calling them "cleanse and fast" days because that's what the dude calls it in his instructions http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif You may want to take that up with him if his verbiage is wrong http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

Raynasmom, you do what works for you. I have tried many different cleanses (not any of the ones mentioned in this thread), and having done onewith whole foods, that's what I will stick with, but it may not work as well for everyone else or be somebody else's pick. I do what's best for me/my body and hope everyone does the same.If it works for you and you like it, that's all that matters. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

veperez 05-30-2007 08:11 AM

I think we should get back to the ORIGINAL question posted by Lexi's mom... She asked for cleansing ideas.

What has been postedare ALL cleansing IDEAS.
There are MANY MANY cleanses out there & many if not all work. Some people may choose to go with one particular program while others may want to choose their own. Ultimatley, you will choose how much you want to pay, how you want to cleanse, and what you put in your body while doing the cleanse.

If you want to follow this particular cleanse thathas been brought up, I suggest you look into good quality whey protein. There are many many brands out there - and who ever wants to do this, also needs to do the research on it. I agree that Slim Fast has way too much sugar. IMHO, there are better alternatives for a meal replacement.

Just my 2 cents. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

Have a GREAT day everybody!

~ VilmaEdited by: veperez

raynasmom 05-30-2007 08:23 AM

Yes you can mix with skim milk. Seriously, though do some research if you are interested in trying it. GNC has whey protein shakes, you will spend a few dollars more. The person I got the info from probably listed slim fast as the shake because it was the cheapest way to go, he did say that there are alternatives and there are. Go to GNC.com and research the shakes there.
I think that it is great idea to get back to the original post. I shared the info I received because it is something that worked for me. Everybody will choose what they believe is best for them, do your research.Edited by: raynasmom

FV Mom 05-30-2007 08:30 AM

Hey guy, Meg was just adding her 2 cents and being helpful as she understands that not everyone had $189 for 9 days worth of products and offered a solution for someone whom price would be an issue. The vitamin supplement mention in the ebook is a good one. Slim Fast is not the best protein source but again, it's called "The Poor Man's Cleanse" and as such it's focused more on price. Jay Robb Protein would've worked well for this cleanse and it's very inexpensive and has 25g of protein per serving and no added sugar or additives. I believe ISA has 24 so again it's not that far off - 2 days of fasting followed by 5 days in which you drink 2 shakes and eat one meal, followed by another 2 cleanse days. So for those who want to cleanse but don't have $189 to slap down, it could be an alternative and I personally appreciate the heart of the author in wanting to share the information and help others. I didn't see anything infringing on the copyright of Isa. IMO you can't copyright fasting. And I think Slim Fast was actually thefirst to say "A shake for breakfast, one for lunch, and a sensible dinner lol."

Anywho lol, Debi girl, you know I'm gonna say the Master Cleanse right?Edited by: FV Mom

FV Mom 05-30-2007 08:36 AM

Debi, there's also Jay Robb's 3 Day Fruit Flush. I know several people who've lost weight on it. No fasting involved. Oh Jenn, Jay's Fruit flush is a lot like week 2 of the candida cleanse.

Here's his site: The ebook is only $5 (You have to buy your own fruit http://www.jayrobb.com/He also has a new 14 day fruit diet on his site. I'm about to order...if hubby asks I'm blaming youhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifEdited by: FV Mom

foreverdavis 05-30-2007 03:23 PM

Isa cleanse is a superior cleanse--however, the poorman's cleanse will take off pounds too. Depends on what you are wanting. My biggest issue would be the SUGAR--which is why I would want to find another suitable protein shake. I already use Spirutein shakes (fructose sweetened)and getting ready to try Rainbow Light Protein Energizer shake (sweetened with stevia). BTW, vitacost.com has good prices and cheap shipping and has the vitamin powder mentioned in Poor Man.

Hey Angie, www.jayrobb.com has really high quality protein. No yukies added] and very inexpensive (Like 19 bucks for a 1lb can which is like 16 servings). Oh, I don't sell anything Jay Robb if anyone was wondering. I just love the guy. He's so down to earth and humble.http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

~ Debi ~ 05-30-2007 05:28 PM

Okay FVMom...I know you know your stuff...so I ordered the online book for the 3 day fruit flush and I had gone out tonight and bought a GNC brand whey protein powder, but then I realized it had a sugar in it, so I ordered the powder from Jay's site. I will return the GNC one tomorrow.

Thanks for your words of wisdom.

I figure I will do best, personally, with a 3 day flush. I am not interested in dropping more than a pound or two...so if I do lose a few pounds, great...if not, no big deal.I am more interested in cleaning up my body before I start WW core next week. I am moving into eating fruits, vegies & core products like whole grains & meats. No more processed garbage, refined sugars, white/flour/bread, etc...

I just want to have optimal energy to be able to exercise more and run more...AND just have an overall healthy body.

I hope I am on my way!

I plan to start the flush on Monday of next week - butit depends on when I get the protein powder, so I might need to start later. hopefully I can do this soon so that I am done with it before we go to NYC next Saturday!

khelzy09 12-10-2009 11:03 PM

there are many ways to do body cleansing naturally. First, while you are on this body cleanse it is important that you stay away from any food that contains any artificial ingredients because these are the items that help your body to build up toxins that stop you from losing weight. Second, drink at least 6 bottles of water a day. This will help to keep everything flowing naturally through your body as you do the body cleanse. Third, eat fresh fruit in breakfast. The denser the fresh fruit is the better that it for your body cleanse and these fruits contain a lot of water that will help to clear out your digestive system. Next, the rest of your meals and snack should contain only fresh and raw fruits and vegetables. This will keep your body from taking in any extra toxins during your body cleanse. Do not use any salt, oils, or dressings on your fruits and vegetables. They will halt the body cleanse in its tracks. You will see a sudden weight loss from the water weight that you will drop when you are on the body cleanse. Follow this fruit and vegetable body cleanse for a week. When you start eating normally again, you will want to eat high fiber carbs and low fat proteins along with your fruits and vegetables. This will help to increase the weight that you will lose from having done a body cleanse.

Gail Jenkins 12-16-2009 07:55 AM

I would always recommend a natural detox, you can get products from the pharmacy although many online sellers too. My favourites are natural detox foot pads for a good internal detox and green tea capsules as these have many additional health benefits and can help boost the results of weight loss programmes and diet.

Kath331 01-01-2010 09:16 PM

There are also many natural cleansing alternatives. If you do an online search, you will find many of them and I find they tend to be more effective too!
