I would not recommend starting a diet. Look on your eating habits and start working out. In a few months you will see what can happen just with sports and good eating habits.

Combining exercise with a healthy diet is a more effective way to lose weight. Exercise can prevent or even reverse the effects of certain diseases, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, which may prevent a heart attack.

I advise you to eat healthy food, do exercises regularly, and spend more time outdoors (even walking).

The best plan is whatever works and is sustainable for you. What works for me is counting calories and staying under my limit. I am allowed 1600 calories a day and have whatever I want as long as I don't go over. I log my food before I eat it in order to make more informed choices and substitute for lower calorie options if I'm going to go over my limit.
