I have a list of snacks that will keep you feeling full longer so you don't feel the urge to snack all the time. Remember that you want to eat foods that won't raise your blood sugar because that'll release insulin into your bloodstream which will take the glucose to your muscles but if there's no room to store the energy there it's going to be stored in your fat cells...if there's no space then more fat cells will be created. So even though you think you are eating a healthy snack, it could be the cause of your weight gain. Limit your consumption of grapes, dates, and bananas. If you are trying to lose weight, eat 1/2 a banana, eat 1 cup of grapes if you are losing weight but 2 cups to maintain your weight. Avoid dates when you are trying to lose weight but if you are maintaining your weight then it's fine to eat 1 medjool or 3 deglet noor dates.

Satisfying Snack Ideas:

1 sliced apple with 3 tbs of low fat peanut butter

1 sliced apple with 2 pieces of low fat string cheese

1 cup of raw veggies with 2 tbs of homemade hummus

2 hard boiled eggs with 1 cup of raw veggies

1/2 cup of grapes, 1 sliced peach with 4 oz. of low fat no sugar added yogurt

2 deviled eggs with pickles and greek yogurt

1/2 cup of low fat cottage cheese with 1/2 of either fresh or frozen (thawed) fruit

2 tbs of parmesan cheese with 3 cups of air popped popcorn

2 oz of oven roasted turkey deli meat wrapped around chilled asparagus spears

1/2 cup of cottage cheese with herbs or salsa with 1 cup of raw veggies

1 cup of raw veggies with 4oz Onion dip made with LF cottage cheese

Wow, looks like you've covered everything on that list. I also like eating 1 square of dark chocolate a day - very good for the cholesterol and heart - has to be very dark though - at least 85% cocoa.

Awesome list ! I am going to have to reference this list when I go grocery shopping this weekend. When I get to the store, my knowledge on "healthy" goes right out the window most of the time.

Some great snack ideas! My all time favorite is 2 Wasa crackers with some farmer cheese and roasted red peppers on top!

When I'm craving something sweet.
Frozen Grapes

When I need something salty/savory I love roasting chickpeas.

Basically you drain a can of chickpeas/garbanzo beans.

Spray down a baking sheet with olive oil spray.

Toss in the garbanzo beans.

Season. I usually use salt, pepper and parmasean but you can add whatever spices you'd like.

350 degree oven for an hour or until chickpeas are dried out and crunchy.

So freakin delicious.

I'll post two links to my video roasted chickpea recipe.
