Snopes pretty much chalked this up to alarmist distortion of statistics.

I've been trying to discuss something similar to this every time someone tries to impose religion into government though. If we allow Christianity to control government now because (Christians outnumber other religious beliefs) what's going to happen when Christians are a minority? Are they going to sit idly back while they are forced to observe Muslim traditions?

If nothing else I wish the average Christian would at least entertain that thought when trying to pass legislation that would impose their beliefs or observances on people of other religious beliefs.

Have you ever read the book Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis? The reason I ask is because he made this EXACT argument in the book. I find it almost funny when a lot of "well meaning" Christians try and site C.S. Lewis to push toward a Christian Nation because he was very much against this idea.
