wmoore, have you heard anything on your bracelets? Did you file for an extension to be sure you don't violate the 30 day time frame?
I'm going to do the same as you and send them a sample of each bracelet for their critique. Diane |
ebay
so i found some people selling the bracelets and also someone selling a kit
VIKING KNIT BRACELET KIT & INSTRUCTIONS, GREEN WIRE #2 - eBay (item 170616035298 end time Aug-12-11 09:20:41 PDT) i guess if your not sure you can do it this would be a cheap way to see if you can make them. i'm watching them so if you are bidding let me know so we don't outbid each other :) |
It is a very beautiful chain bracelet. I won't bid on it since I prefer to work for the company. I just hope they don't fire me.

so you are working for the company. how is it going? do they give you a dvd on the website or just pictures to make the bracelet? |

I made my first bracelet this weekend. It was a little tough at first but then I got the hang of it. One thing that helped me with the memory wire was I didn't cut off my piece until I had it threaded, I found if you spun the bracelet around while pushing the wire it was easier to work it through.

Titan Chains
:rolleyes:I tried Titan Chains and it is impossible to do it on the mandrel they give you and you have to us it or they wont take the work. My advice is to stay away.I am and artisan and it was impossible for me to do the way they so to do it. The mandrel is the size of a metal close hanger and you have to weave 4 rows around it GOOD LUCK. I will be sending me kit back to see if I get a refund. Will keep you posted on my outcome. Good luck on another adventure.
|
I agree the mandrel is much smaller than I envisioned. It was frustrating trying to get it started. I almost threw it across the room. Then I went back to some email correspondence I had with the company before I ordered the kit. I was cautioned that the beginning loops will not be even or look right. Then I just got the best start I could and was amazed that it gets better as you proceed...just like they said it would. I then bought some colored craft wire to use for the starter loops and that helped. I made use of the help desk when I got stuck and they were prompt with their replies.
I just sent a sample of Style 1 and a sample of Style 2 to them to be sure I'm on the right track before continuing. I'll let you know how it goes. Diane |

I ordered a kit from them the other day, praying it is legit. I got my login code and though I would be able to see their newsletter and instructions with it. So far I haven't been able to find the link. Is this something you get to see after you get approved to assemble for them? I'm a little nervous now.
|
The website with the instructions for making the bracelets will be included in your supplies. I don't see a tab for a newsletter on that site nor have I received one. I'll ask the help desk about it. A newsletter would be great! My sample bracelets are being reviewed; I expect a report this afternoon. I'm nervously excited.
Diane |
I will say a little prayer for you starlighthill. I hope it will work out and will watch to see. I will also let everyone know how it works out for me.
|
Thanks for the prayer, 5525carin. They rushed my review through and I just received it. I'm very happy. They say I have the chaining down but my loops on Style 2 need to be smaller. The ends on the memory wire need to be more round than mine are. Mine are sorta oval:( That is something to work on. I need to improve the end caps on Style 2. Also on Style 2 there was a loop standing out from the chain. It was where wire was joined. They think I can squeeze it into place with the round nosed pliers. To prevent this from happening in the first place, they suggested I look through the wire for joins and tuck the ends in before pulling it through the drawplate.
I really enjoyed doing the bracelets. Diane |
Overall it sounds like a pretty good review for your first time. They do look like they are fun to make once you get the hang of it. Do you think that once you have it down it would be reasonable to make 2-4 pieces in a day?
|
I am guessing that it would take me 2 hours to complete a bracelet, if I did it assembly line fashion.
Diane |
That sounds doable :). Keep us posted on your progress. I think my starter kit should be here today. I can't wait. In the past year I have had my eye on a few jewelry books featuring the viking knit, now hopefully I can do it and actually make a little pocket money.
|
I just read through the whole thread. To wmoore, did you receive your full payout?
|
I just got done completing my first one of style #1. It is a challenge to get it going on the mandrel but after a few round it gets easier. I think after doing a few it will be easy. For me, the hard part was pulling it through the draw plate. I can see that a pair of work gloves that have a rubber type coating on the palm may be helpful here. I will post my progress and let you know if I get paid.:)

Titan Chains
Hi Ya'll,
I've been trying to look into the legitimacy of Titan Chains. Everything looks fairly promising until you start looking into the fact of whether they actually have a physical/geographical location. I can't find them on the online white or yellow pages. I typed in their 9792 Edmonds Way #302 Edmonds, WA 98020 address into Mapquest and I get a map for the address, but their name does not come up with the address. When I type in just the name Titancraft.Co, LLC - Titan Chains into mapquest, I get the address 9792 Edmonds Way, Edmonds, WA 98020 (this one does not have the # 302 in it) but that address is associated with a Kathi Moncreaf. It seems she is a restaurant owner. Any thoughts on this? |
|
Why don't you call Kathi and ask her about it. Possibly her husband is running the Titan Chains - that would explain the same address, wouldn't it?? IF she acts like she doesn't know what you are talking about, then I would call Titan Chains and inquire w/them. IF they both act dumb....then run in the other direction, as fast as you can....lol!
|
It looks to me as if it is in a plaza type building. They probably just moved from one unit to another.
|
Thanks for your thoughts ya'll.
I did think about calling them also. I also thought about it being a plaza-type building too, but if it was, wouldn't Kathi's address have a suite number also? Thanks again :) |
I sent my sample bracelets to the address listed. They received them, gave me a detailed review and returned them along with enough wire to finish the lot. The person I have dealt with via email has been Eric. If you read the previous posts, you will see that Eric Weissman is listed as the owner.
|
Sounds promising Starlight :)
Please continue to let us know how it goes. |
I have finished all four of the style #1. I feel they look pretty good. I did stab myself pretty good with a wire under my nail bed, ouch! It kind of reminded me of when I made stained glass windows and would end up with glass slivers on my palms. Who said arts and crafts were safe?
|
Is anybody still working on these? I should be ready to send mine in on Friday.
|
Hi Carin,
Yes, I'm working on my first lot after sending samples in for them to review. I hope to have them finished early next week. Diane |
