Candle Season

Gosh, how time flies! Our biggest retailing time of year, the fall candle season is quickly approaching! How will you be promoting your candle business for the fall? Do many of you do the fall craft shows?

I will be talking to everyone I know and buying candle specific leads. I have partners who do shows, home parties and festivals. A very exciting time for sure!

My favorite time of year. I do craft and vendor fairs from Sept. to Dec. Already signed up for one and will be finding others.

I need to start looking myself. I have only done one fair and that was quite awhile ago. A couple of great places to find fairs in your area is Craftlister.com and Eventlister.com.
Do you find you do better selling the smaller candles and votives, melters, soaps, sprays instead of the larger jar candles? I am thinking it would be too heavy for customers to carry around the bigger jars at the fests. What do you think?

I only carry the 16 oz and 9 oz (plus some of the specialty candles) but nobody seems to complain about carrying it. I do also sell the votives and the melts. It depends on what people are wanting at the time. Since it's gift giving time they will buy the jars. If they want, I would hold it at the table for them once they purchase. I sell quite a few soaps too.

I've been with Country Gourmet Home for over a year now and have only promoted the food mixes. I am now ready to start promoting the wax melts. On Maui we have a swap meet every Saturday and I hope to get a booth and see how that goes.
