Do you have any hobbies or interests that you could turn into your own home business? If you start with something you are passionate about that usually shows through to others and then you have more success. It becomes more about sharing then selling, if that makes sense.

Perhaps there is another way: many displaced workers went back to school. Your local college may have programs that suit your interests, and can train you for a new career. They probably also have financial aid available, if you're worried about tuition costs.
