Default Hope Lodges

I have not suffered from breast cancer, but I had cancer in my lower jaw and ended up losing it and part of my tongue. The pain, loss, and fear is the same but just on a different location.

During the currently 2 years of medical procedures and recovery/checkup processes I have gone through to date, I came to depend upon the compassionate help of the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge located in the city I receive my medical care in.

There I was able to stay, once for 3 months continuous, without having to pay for the room - they do not charge for patients undergoing cancer treatments and procedures.

The people I met there - all impacted by the ravages of cancer in various forms whether patient or family, gave me hope, joy, sadness, but above all - strength to face each day. I was not alone.

I just wanted to pass on this information to any that were not aware of the free services that these Hope Lodges offer to cancer patients and their families. I would classify the accommodations equal to a 3 - 4 star hotel. They offer activities, state of the art kitchen facilities to cook your own meals while there, lunch and dinner potlucks put on by local churches and organizations, most are tied into a free transportation system that runs all day taking patients and family between the different medical centers, and too much more to list here.

You can find more about these Hope Lodges at the American Cancer Society website. God Bless

Crystal

Wow! Good for you! Thank you for sharing. Cancer is not just a physical battle. It's also an emotional, psychological, social battle. I can only pray for you. God bless you!
