View Full Version : Need advice on dictation tools

Hello!
A friend of mine wants to start dictating her life story. She has asked me to find out the best dictation equipment for her.

Ideally, she would use a hands-free, cord-free microphone, and what she says could be recorded into a file in her computer. Then someone would take that file and transcribe it.

I've seen voice-to-text software, but even the "best" software still requires the speaker to say things like, "Period", "Comma", "New paragraph", etc. Although not hard to do, it can break up the flow of thought when writing for a book.

Any suggestions on:
A headset
A program that records the voice (not types) it.

I would appreciate any help you have to offer!!

Best regards,
Pamela La Gioia
