I have recently started working doing transcription. I have one man who employs me regularly and then a series of contract jobs that each last a month or so.

Does anyone know of a good book about how to do taxes asn aindependent contractor or do you have personal experience with doing this that could give me some idea of how you do it? I know I have to pay estimated taxes quarterly and somehow pay Social Security taxes, but don't know what tax rates are so I can know how much to set aside for taxes.

Any help appreciated.

Something as important tax questions should be addressed by a professional. Bad or incorrect advice could cost you. That being said there is some great information to be had on you tube.
