Our 7 year old female black lab was diagnosed with cancer mid November 2012. She had an breast tumor that we noticed. The vet removed that, went in to spay her and said "she was full". He gave her 2-4 months. This news absolutely broke our hearts!! So...we have had her on B.S.S.T. drops (it's pretty much Essiac, if anybody has ever heard of that. All herbal. Great stuff. They have it for humans also. Google it!) and powder multi vitamins. We have her on some of the best dog food (least amount of fillers) now. We always used Purina Dog Chow previously, so she wasn't eating totally bad, cheap food, but...after this came up we really looked at the Dog Chow wasn't the greatest either! Anyway....so far, 3 months later she's doing pretty good!! You wouldn't know she was sick by looking at her. She's still very playful, but a little more easily fatigued then she used to be (from the cancer or from being spayed and it being winter so she's put on some weight...we don't know. ??). We definitely are not going to keep fighting this if/when she starts to suffer. We would never put her through that! But...we wanted to do all we could for her to keep her feeling as good as she can for as long as possible.

Does anybody have any words of encouragement? Have you ever been through this before? She's just the sweetest dog. SUCH a HUGE part of our family. We can't imagine this house/our yard without her in it!! :(

I am so sorry to read about your beloved pet! Although I have not had to make the kinds of decisions that may have to I know it would be one of the most difficult things to go through. I love my two dogs so much and it scares me just knowing they dont have a very long life span.

I'm so sorry to hear of your dogs illness. My dogs are young, I can't even imagine what I would do when they get older or sick. But, it sounds like your dog is in really good hands and that you already are doing the best that you can for her. I wish her and you all the best of luck in fighting the cancer.

Thanks for the kind words ladies! So far, another week and a half later, she's doing great! Shedding A LOT, but if that's the worst of it...I can sweep, vacuum, brush her, etc, etc. It's all good!! ;) Have a wonderful day!

It's so hard when our pets get sick:( We just recently (november) had to put our 14 yr old lab down. He was fairly healthy, but somehow got a case of Bloat and there was no way to save him. It was so tough on our family for a while.

I would just give you the advice of make sure you spend some good quality time with your dog and cherish every new day you get. I'm so happy to hear she is doing well right now though!

My thoughts are with you too. I know how much dogs mean. My beagle is in the hospital right now. Sending you hugs.

Im sorry to hear about this. I decided after 14 years to put my princess to peace. I cried and cried and sobbed. She nearly lost both front legs 4 years before- took alot of surgery and recovery (lost pne leg) once recovered she was amazing..did everything like before. She started going down hill a year ago and it was time...i could feel her suffering. I miss her soooo much...

Anna, I know you are heart broken with this news. As long as your sweet baby dog is with you, love her and snuggle her. When it's time to say good bye, you'll know. So sorry.

Awe! I'm so sorry to hear about the other losses that have been posted here! So sorry! We've been there before...and know we will be there again. Hopefully much later then we've been told.

She's still doing good!! Just placed another order for the ESSIAC drops and the nutritional powder! It's seems she was throwing up once or twice a day every week (once a week, not every day) for a while, but...she hasn't done that for a few weeks now either! Yay! (Knocking on wood...RIGHT NOW!) I'm hoping as it gets warmer here (Wisconsin! Ugh.) that will help her also. :)
