Anyone else raising mice?
We are trying it, and we just had the first litter, but the pups were all weird looking and deformed, I think.
It was hard to tell, though, because the moms ate them too quick for us to really get a good look at them.
the whole thing was kinda gross.
we're trying to work up our courage to breed them again.
any tips?

Why in the world would you want to raise mice? Just wondering.

When I was a kid, I had several litters of mice and rats, and they look really weird when they are born. They are hairless and blind because their eyes are sealed shut so they are pretty helpless creatures. You are right however, if a mother mouse senses that the babies are deformed or that their is something else wrong with them, she will instinctively eat them. Sometimes young mother mice will also do this just because they are inexperienced.

Well I've never raised mice or rats by I have raised several sets of hamsters!
The second set I raised, the mother ate one of the pups and it was just awful! Very saddening but I guess she was scared for them. The others were just fine and went off to their new homes perfectly well (as far as I know!)
