Yup, eating clean. I truly believe that's it! I have only beenweight training2 to 3 times per week for an average of 25 minutes, but sometimes will go 30 or 40, it just depends on what I'm doing. And I try to do 28 minutesof cardio (Slim Series Cardio Express)3 days per week, but when something gets cut due to time, it's my cardio, so some weeks I only get to do cardio twice.

I had to get back into working out really slowly (according to my chiro), so I started around the second week of March just walking on the treadmill a couple times a week for 1 mile. And then I started some light lifting again the second week of March. AndI've just been taking it easy on the workouts because of my getting sick/overtraining issue. I haven't been sick since the beginning of February and I'd like to keep it that way smileys/smiley36.gif

Other than that - I got TOTALLY serious about eating clean.

So I'm down to 26.4%, on my way to 21%, which is my goal - *Woot*! smileys/smiley1.gif

Jennifer, that is SOOOOO amazing! You're an inspiration to me!! You ALL are, actually......reading these posts and seeing your progress really keeps me pointing in the right direction! I might have to check out clean eating - but can you tell me how well I can incorporate it into cooking for my family and how well kids do with it? I am not at all familiar with this, so any info is great!

Actually, Jenn (happymommy) and I are currently working on a website and forum about the clean eating lifestyle, but in the meantime, definitely pick up Tosca Reno's book. http://www.amazon.com/Eat-Clean-Diet-Fat-Loss-lasts-Forever/dp/1552100383 (http://www.amazon.com/Eat-Clean-Diet-Fat-Loss-lasts-Forever/dp/1552100383) It's my clean eating bible! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif Oh, and I have her cookbook, as well http://www.amazon.com/Eat-Clean-Diet-Cookbook-Great-Tasting-Recipes/dp/1552100448/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1207865413&sr= 1-1 (http://www.amazon.com/Eat-Clean-Diet-Cookbook-Great-Tasting-Recipes/dp/1552100448/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1207865413&sr= 1-1)

As far as the kids - well, I've got one who is a very picky eater and only wants to eat junk. The other, my youngest, is the neatest little kid! When she is given a choice between fruit or a candy bar, she chooses fruit. A choice between water and soda? She'll pick water every time! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif So she loves to try new foods and actually likes good food. My oldest is tricky, so what I have been doing is letting her choose what our meal will be at dinnertime and then let her help make it. And when I say choose, I'll be like do you want vegetable soup OR some type of chicken. I give her two to pick from because if I allowed her to actually think up the meal, we'd be having Pizza Hut every night http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif Also, they always have a really healthy breakfast before school, which they usually ask for oatmeal and fruit.

My husband has actually hopped on board, which surprised me, and while he's not a 100% clean eater, he is doing way better, and I've noticed that the more healthy foods we have in the house to choose from, theoldest is just naturally moving towards healthier choices.

Plus, there are ways to"cleanup" your regular meals and stuff. It's not as hard as people think, IMO.

HTH!

nope... no raw food. It's just good clean eating.

Jenn, I just re-read the book & cookbook - i'm exited! Did you follow the 2 week plan included in the book?

jnmurra
04-14-2008, 11:27 AM
No, actually I didn't. I guess, for me, clean eating wasn't a "new" idea, but somehow the book just motivated me to put actually put into practice what I already knew. However, I did use a few ideas from it for breakfast because I'm just not a food eater in the morning, so it's taken a bit for me to break out of my smoothie habit, although I still "do" a smoothie probably 4 mornings out of 7. I'm getting better, though!

I would definitely suggesting following her plan, though, because itwill kickstart thingsand get your body used to eating every couple/few hours, and it's structured, so it takes out the guesswork. Plus, if you follow it for 2 weeks, that gives you time to find out other foods/recipes that you can use. KWIM?

04-14-2008, 12:13 PM
Yes! I get it - thanks! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

What I like about her plan is that it's very well balanced & some of the pictures look sinfully delcious http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif- you can't even tell that the dishesare healthy. I'm going to start following the 2 week plan that she has & hopefully lit will help me lose quite a few pounds of bloat & water weight that I've been carrying around for far TOO LONG! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley11.gifhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

Good for you! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif
And yep, it is well-balanced. And you know what,I was just talking to Jenn about this the other day - I FEEL so different by eating this way. Like, before, I just did not handle stress well and was stressed about one thing or another, usually little things, ALL the time. And now? It's a very rare thing for me to feel stressed - very rare. I feel better, my moods are better,I look better. I don't know, it's just been an amazing experience for me. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

Good luck! And keep us updated on how it's going!!

It's so weird, in the past few weeks, my Mom and I have decided to chuck all we've thought about dieting out the window and just eat healthy. We're cutting the fat, watching the sugar, eliminating processed foods from our diet... I was making the transition to eating clean and didn't even know it.

We came back from Jamaica a week ago yesterday and I was 5# heavier than when I left http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley6.gifso I just went back to basics and by Wed of that week, I'd dropped those 5#. Now, I know a lot of that weight was water, but some of it was fat, too! Then by Fri of that week I'd dropped another 3#!!! It was amazing. I wasn't starving, I just wasn't eating junk at all. My portions are smaller, I'm eating more often during the day, I've elimated bread completely (eat tortillas or pita instead of white or wheat bread since I over eat in that area). I don't eat sweets, chips, processed junk... if I want something quick I eat fruit or nuts depending on what I'm in the mood for.

It's not exactly eating clean, but it's working. I can tell by how my clothes fit that this is working. I'm going to the bookstore today to take a look at the book, see if I need to read it. Is there a cookbook in addition? That would be better for me.

Here's a link to the site for the new magazine:

It comes out quarterly, so it's in the Spring 08 issue. If you order the free issue, just know it takes a few weeks to get it. Jen & I were very impatient waiting for ours! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif
