Hello. I am interested in becoming a Medical Coder. I was thinking of taking my classes through DeVry University. Can anyone give me some thoughts on this? Ive done some research and discovered that they are CAHIIM certified. (Don't know how far that really goes.) I would love any help/guidance. Thankyou.

Thankyou for the information! Can you tell me the difference between the AHIMA and the one I mentioned?

There are also on vocational schools where you could train for much less money. I'm not trying to talk you out of a HIM degree though because that does carry a lot of weight especially in hospital coding.

I know of several schools online that offer medical coding. One is MT Advantage Career Center. You can google for the web address.
