Hi all. I know a lot of people here are looking for a low carb type plan. Well we had a spammer not too long ago that was promoting Kimkins. After this weekend, I'm considering going on this diet for a few weeks to undo the damage I've donehttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif

My girls on another message board found info on the diet for free so I'm passing it on to ya'll to save ya'll 50 bucks 'cause I luuuuub ya!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=431457

In a nutshell, it's basically 3-5 days "0" carbs (protein only) followed by 20 carbs max per day until you hit goal. I may do Kimmer's Experiment to undo the damage done this weekendhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gifhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

Thanks for posting the links :) I'm doing low carb, or was until tonight. LOL. Pizza is sooo bad, but oh so good http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif
I'll re-start my low carb plan tomorrow.

You're kidding, right?

http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gifI wish I was lol. I figure her plan is essentially a cutting phase or very similar to the P90X phase one phase. I got on the scale this morning and I weighed 173http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gifDefinately goes against the 3500 cals = 1 pound rulehttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley7.gifHey, it's worth it though (not for the food, but the time with my grandparents). I haven't seen them in 5 years! Good thing toohttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

I'm not a big low carb fan, but definately recognize it as a quick way to undo the damage of a carb loaded weekend. Besides, I'll try anything (legal and moral) oncehttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

ETA: I'm ONLY doing the diet portion. Don't worry, I'm not gonna start drinking diet sodas in place of water and quit exercisinghttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gifhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gifhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifI think the Kimmer's Experiment (Meat and Eggs only) will be interesting (I will be doing eggs and Jay Robb protein). Hey, I could Journal it! This way I can give a play by play for anyone considering it. I'm the wahm.com guinea pighttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifEdited by: FV Mom

Just remember that when you're doing a real low carb phase, you aren't supposed to work out.

Actually, it's not really like the P90X Phase I really. The only thing similar is with P90X you're lowering your carb intake, but nowhere near that level of 20g per day.

Each phase (3) has different levels (3) because it's either 1800, 2400 or 3000+. I am level II. Phase I is 50% protein, 30% carbs, and 20% fat.

I can tell you this - I went back and looked at my fitday info for May when I was doing the moderate carb. I ate around 1500 calories, had 26% coming from carbs, and still ate a little over 100g of carbs per day, like 103 or something. So I figure 120-125 would have had me at 30% with 1800 calories?(not sure how to calculate that, so that's why I use fitday http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif)

And I can also tell you that I was weight training 3x's per week and cardio 3x's per week in May and my very first weight training session when I started the lower carb (I was getting around 75 to 80 g per day when I started) went really well, the subsequent workoutswent to crap. I had NO energy to finish and ran out of gas very early in the session, maybe after 20 minutes.

I don't know what you did this weekend and I am figuring 'most' of it is just bloating and water retention. I used to over indulge on the weekends and gain 5 lbs., but it would be gone by Tuesday or Wednesday of that week if I went back to eating healthy starting Monday morning.

Anyway, I know you're going to try Kimkins no matter what http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif, so I'll just say be careful and if your workouts start to suffer, you know what to do.

I agree with Jen. IMHO, i think you are retaining some serious
water. We all over indulge at times. I know I did these past couple of days and my weight fluctuated about 6 pounds!!! </span></font>

You
will most defenitely lose those 5 lbs that you "gained" and more on
Kimkins ( or any other extremely low carb plan) because you will be depleting
your body of glycogen (every gram of glycogen holds 3 grams of water),
BUT… just remember this: your weightloss will not be all fat loss -
most of it will be waterloss and water loss is temporary. As soon as
you start adding more carbohydrates back into your diet,
you will probably see a weight stall or gain again.</font>

Please be careful.</font>

glycogen
That's exactly why I ran out of gas before even getting 1/2 way through my weight training sessions - I had nothing left to give and I know it was because of my glycogen levels.

Actually, after thinking about it, I'm pretty sure Tony H. says somewhere in his Nutrition Guide that he wants us to eat before our weight workouts (at least an hour before) for that exact reason - because we'll need the glycogen.

HA! Ya'll know I'm gonna do it anyway!smileys/smiley36.gif

Trish, I'm starting tommrrow morning. I know I'll lose probably 5lbs of water weight, but trust me I have an extra 25 or more of fat that I can stand to drop toosmileys/smiley36.gif

I will be tracking my inches and body fat as well. I know a lot of people who do low carb and workout with good results. Once you're in Ketosis you don't get wiped our because your body is burning fat almost exclusively. The reason ppl poop out when low carbing is during the initial phase when going in to Ketosis and also they poop out if they're eating too many carbs because thet's the body's prefered source of energy.

Anywho, I'll be the test dummy. Once I lose the weight I doubt regain will be an issue for me as I don't have a problem with STAYINg at a certain weight, it's the losing that's tough.

Anywho, tommorrow starts Kimmer's Experimentsmileys/smiley36.gif

I am starting it tomarrow as well. I also bought the membership to her site. She also has a BOOTCAMP that I am looking over right now, with daily cardio exercises.

I am so excited. I always feel SO much better and have more energy when I low carb.

I know how ya feel Trish. Actually in Basic training they have you on a Kimkins style diet and I just never realized it! No wonder I dropped so much weight and gained so much muscle so quickly! I was looking HAWT! Anywho, I figure I'll give Kimkins 4-8 weeks and see what happens, then slowly begin adding back in fruits (no grains, I'm convinced I'm allergic) and settle in on a higher carb mainly fruit diet. I just have got to get my desire for junk out of my system. This weekend was ugly! KFC, Whataburger, IHOP, Walmart fried chicken, chips, fries, SODA OMGosh!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley29.gif

I believe the reason I didn't do well low carb before was because I was also high fat (nuts and cheese galore) which meant my cals were higher. I like that Kimkins is low carb AND low fat. I wouldn't do the plan long term, but I think short term it's great! Both my grandparents are diabetic (I tried to set a good example for them but they assimilated me insteadsmileys/smiley36.gif) so I know I have a predisposition to it. I gotta get this 'stuff" outta my system!

So Trish I guess we're in the wahm.com control group huh?smileys/smiley36.gif

When were you in Basic? When I was in our diet wasn't anything remotely similar to a low-carb plan. I actually gained weight, because I had lived on my own for a couple years (college) and wasn't used to eating 3 big squares a day. I recall lots of meat, potatoes, bread, fruits &amp; veggies.

I was in basic in 2000. I went to Fort Jackson. We ate mostly meat and veggies. We didn't get the carbs until AIT where we had more freedom over what we ate at the chow hall. I went from a siz 8-10 to a size 3-4 in 8 weeks and stayed that size for several years even though I ate junk lol!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifThose days are gonehttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gifhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifThe only exception was on Ruck March days we drank that nasty "victory punch" with the salt peter in it that didn't workhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifI was so mad man, watching the drill seargants throw down on pancakes, syrup, fruit, soda, and allI got was stinky veggies and meat (I was loving the meat though) and the awful victory punchhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

I didn't like it at all. I felt like I was starving!!

You not only have to lower carbs but your calories as well. It has been a few months now but I think she wanted it down to 400 or 500 calories a day.

I bought the membership and it most certainly was not worth it all. You can pretty much find out all the info at http://www.lowcarbfriends.com

Of course this is my owm humble opinionsmileys/smiley9.gif

Was this a rule on the site??? I keep seeing people taking about 400-500 calories and I never did it that way. Maybe it's because I never joined the site but just used the free stuff off the internet and made my own thing. The lowest my cals every got was I think like 2 or 3 days at 800 calories when I first hit ketosis. After that I was around 1400 a day. I still ate fat too. Actually, I now realize that I was doing a healthyversion of the unspoken Kimkins, which in reality is actually Atkins!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifGo figurehttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gifWhen I started seeing people talking online about 300 calorie days I was like huh?http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gifWhat for???http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gifhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gifhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gif

Thanks Lori and Trishhttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

Trese, I tried tons of things (and actually I think that's what kept me going, the variety of it allsmileys/smiley36.gif) but one thing I was consistant with was daily exercise and watching my calories (trying to stay around 1500 no matter what plan I was following.) It helped me shed 40lbs!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif
