View Full Version : Let's Try to Remember...

I thought about this last night and this morning and so I thought I would throw it out there.

I think we need to try to remember that we're all different, our bodies are different and will respond differently to different types of plans and exercise, and we all have our own personal preferences and unique mindsets. But we all come together here forsome of the same reasons - to get support, to give support,and/or find other like-minded individuals to discusshealth and fitness with.
Having said that, I think we need to remember that there are manypaths to weight loss andobviously we're not alltaking (or have taken) the same path to get there. What works and is right forone person may not beright or work for someone else and that's fine. I also think it's fine to offer an opinion about what folks are doing/have done or offer suggestions to help them, but there is no reason to bash someone just because they're not doing things "our" way or the way we "think" they should or the way "we" would do it. It doesn't help anyone to put them on the defensive, at least in my opinion.

Anyway, this was on my mind and I thought I would share.

I agree with this. I also feel that this forum is a great asset to all of us on our health paths and love the way we cheer each other on. It just irks me when people come on here and post ads, make claims, and don't even provide before and after pictures or real scientific reseachwith the latest, greatest diet fad with the sole purpose of pitching their deal, looking at those of us who actively participate as their personal prospectsand then try to act all innocent when someone calls them on it.http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gifI mean, I didn't think this folder was a feeding ground for the latest greatest "quick fix" sales people, but rather a place where the people here participate in hopes of helping and inspiring others or being helped and inspired and not just "sold."

None the less, I will be good. You know how passionate I get about stuff.....my bad...ok I think I'll go do "Cool It Off" now because my butt feels like someone used it for a speed bagsmileys/smiley36.gif

I think maybe my return PM cleared things up?

I understand getting irked by sales pitches, etc. Trust me, I know. But when someone new posts, and especially when they're new to wahm, I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. KWIM? Maybe that's wrong and I shouldn't do it, but until it becomes really blatant to me, I tend to do that.

But you're right - this is a place for support/motivation/inspiration/general fitness chit chat and NOT a place to be sold. If you see an ad, let me know or report it and it will be taken care of.

Sorry Jenn... I thought about this ALL night and this morning as well. I felt I was pretty harsh on "TheBiggestLoser". I felt she/he was selling us a sells pitch and not necessarly her/his own weight loss story.

TheBiggestLoser, if you are reading. I am truly sorry.

I think there is a big difference between "weight loss" and "fitness".It just depends on one's personal goals. I think most of us hereare fitness oriented, so .... sometimes it's difficult to sit on your fingers and let people learn the hard way.

I understand this, however, not every path is healthy. That's why I spoke up.

I think I offered my opinion... Honestly, did I bash ladies?

Maybe I did... a little bit. smileys/smiley5.gif

Not typical of me... but I had to speak out what I believed. I'm gonna have to start sitting on my fingers more often. smileys/smiley36.gif

But therein is the problem - what you think is healthy and what someone else thinks is healthy may not be the same. Since I have already talked with FVMom about this this morning, I don't think she'll mind me using the Master Cleanse as an example. I think it's unhealthy. She doesn't.Who's right? It doesn't matter really because she's going to do what she thinks is healthy and best for her. I can support that even though I wouldn't choose it for me. And I'm sure both of us could find support in research with one side saying it's healthy and the other saying it's not. That's just the way it is. Like I stated the other day, the experts used to say that Atkins was unhealthy, now they're saying it's healthy. The bottom line is peolpe are going to make their own choices and putting them on the defensive is not helping.
I want to make clear - I'm not saying what anyone should do and it's not my right to do that. The only responsibility I have is to keep ads out of this folder, not tell people how to post. I just put my thoughts out there. Go by my philosophy - take what you can and leave the rest http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

I sincerely appreciate this thread and agree 100%.

Vilma, apology accepted.

I didn't come here fishing for anything nor did I have any hidden agenda. I am extrmemly excited about my success and was looking for others who may have utilized the same plan. I was also very straight forward about being an affiliate. As I mentioned before, just about everyone here is a rep or affiliate with some type of weight loss product or program - and there's no shame in sharing our success with it.

Everyone has their opinions about weightloss and / or fitnessbut only WE (as individuals)know what's best for us and OUR bodies for the results we are seeking. I, too, have reservations about some of the things being done (or used) here to lose weight - but again, it's the individuals choice. It's not my place to say it's good for them, bad for themor otherwise.

I look forward to learning more about (and from)all of youand hope to become a productive member of this folder.

Thanks again for this thread. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif

Hi....My name is Deadra and I'm a weight loss Junkie ! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif Problem is...I can't seem to stick with any one plan!
Welcome to Wahm!!! But, at least give us a name to go with your screen name "TheBiggestLoser", please.

I always love to see what others are doing and what's working for them. After all, one size does Not fit all http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif.

I have tried sooooo many plans, programs.....you name it. They all worked - but for only a short period of time. I never made it a lifestyle change. I guess I'm still looking for that!

So, now that we are all playing nice again....Everyone have a great day!!!
