Hello!

I just found this folder!! My goodness where have y'all been??!!

here's my scoop:

I have been struggling with my weight since I hit 29. My metabolism has gone nuts. I lose weight easily (usually) and gain it super easily as well. I have tried diets, weight watchers (which worked the first two weeks), shakes, Isagenix (awful stuff. lost pounds but gained them back i then learned why)....smileys/smiley5.gif

I am so desperate to lose weight. I am overweight bordering obesitysmileys/smiley18.gifsmileys/smiley19.gif I am so unhappy with my body, my lack of commitment, and my marriage is failing terribly due to my weight issue. if I am unhappy, i make my husband unhappy. he is also overweight and startig to make changes in his diet.

The problem for me is that I find it very difficult to maintain a healthy diet while living with another person-DH. My weight disaster has happened ever since i got married. I really don't knwo what to od other than find some kind of support online now. I am not in the mood to be out in the world unless is extremely necessary(work). I am a recluse which I know is bad for me.

i would like to know what you beautiful women out there suggest I start with. I need help with discipline, but once I start and get going, I keep going. it is the starting that kills me.smileys/smiley5.gif

I thought of starting by getting in the 10 day walking challenge starting on monday! I have an excercise CD i got at walmart about a month or two ago that comes with a Ball to do the exercises with. as you can imagine, i got so busy I haven't even played the CD yet! LOL!smileys/smiley9.gif

Thank you for letting me share!

WELCOME Space Peahttp://forum.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif So glad you found us!

I say start with baby steps and the walk challenge is going to be GREAT for you. I bet once you accomplish this challenge you will be well on your way to sticking to your commitment.

Staying accountable to others (like here in the weight loss/fitness forum) is going to be a tremendous help.

Start to change your eating habits, watch portion sizes, drink water and exercise.

Pull out that workout you got at Walmart because stability ball exercises are really good for you.

If you can get your hands on any Walk Away the Pounds workouts, I would highly recommend those to start as well. Those are in-home walking workouts that incorporate arm movements as well.

I was never one to be active nor did I like to go out and do things but my whole outlook on life has changed and although I have quite a ways to go and things I want to change, life is so much more active and happier now. I imagine your marriage will be healthier too if you and hubby both work on the changes together.

Please stick with it and come here for support. You will be glad you didhttp://forum.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

oh wow, I can relate to so many things you wrote! The absolute hardest part of the whole weight loss journey is making the commitment. For me, I knew I wanted to do something about my weight, but I had such a struggle actually taking action.

I started out just walking 20 minutes a day on the treadmill and keeping track of my diet on www.fitday.com (http://www.fitday.com). Then I gradually started moving onto other workouts that looked fun.

I've lost 35lbs but it hasn't been easy staying motivated. I had like a 3 month hiatus from around November to January that set me back some. Then I had to start all over with finding that motivation and making the committment again. D'oh! It wasn't easy.

I think if you can find things that keep you focused on your goal, though, it makes it easier. I play all kinds of odd mind games with myself smileys/smiley9.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif- in order to continually remind myself what I'm working towards.

Anyway ... WELCOME! Dive right in and join us. There is a LOT of support here.

Welcome Space-Pea! I am new to this part of the boards as well. I have to agree with what Angie (who has been a huge motivation for me...check out her blog and before and after pics to get some motivation) and whatChrlstoncharmed said.

I have lost 36 lbs since January 30, 2007 unfortunately I didn't have a choice....I was basically forced into it. Now I can go and eat whatever I want, but I choose to continue what I am doing. It is very very hard. I had tried dieting in the past, excersizing, ect....but always got off track or became disappointed when I didn't see the results right away. The hardest thing for me was giving up some favorite foods, but you know what...I didn't have it....I just found a heathier way to eat them. The other hard thing was giving up dark sodas (either diet or regular), but once you get use to not having these things...it gets a whole lot easier. The other thing that makes it worth it, is once you start to see the results...you just wanna keep going! My goal was to get to 199 (I just wanted to be under that 200 mark) but now I am past that and want to keep going because I am loving the way I look and love people telling me how great I look plus I like the way I feel and can bare looking into the mirror a bit more now...LOL!!
Like Angie said...be accountable! Start small....in the beginning I did a huge change, which ended up backfiring...this time I did it small and built my way up (first thing I gave up was dark soda)! Once you start seeing the results and start feeling better, you will want to keep going!

Here is wishing you lots of luck in changing! Everyone here is AWESOME for support! I know I find myself coming to this part of the board just to get inspiration to not eat something bad....LOL!

You can get one at www.tickerfactory.com (http://www.tickerfactory.com) or www.tickercentral.com (http://www.tickercentral.com) or www.extrapounds.com (http://www.extrapounds.com) Just depends on your preferencehttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

You can get Walk Away The Pounds on ebay, or from her website http://www.lesliesansone.com/ (http://www.lesliesansone.com/)

Welcome to the folder! The support is great here! I think the biggest key for me is it's something that has to happen internally, it can't be forced. You've just got to want it badder than you want to stay the way you are. Believe it or not, there's some kind of payoff you are getting from your current lifestyle, otherwise you wouldn't be "stuck in a rut" so to speak. You've got to get real with yourself and decide that you are no longer comfortable with the situation and that you're not going to stay that way any longer. IMO until that changes, nothing else will.

Ok, that's my Dr. Phil Moment!smileys/smiley36.gif

Hi there!!! I had not see this post before... You must have posted when my mother board &amp; processor died this weekend http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gif. I just got to reading your story today (at work)... and let me tell you.... I know exactly what you are going through! As a matter of fact, this happened to me when I got married last year. Doesn't it bug you that when you are trying and trying and trying so hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle &amp; DH makes it soooo difficult http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley7.giffor you by stocking up on stuff that you know you shouldn't eat??? I know that we shouldn't blame it on any body but ourselves, but they just make it so difficult!!! Anyhow, I gained about 52 pounds in a span of 9 months. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gifYeah.... I know... ALOT!!!
..I would like to know what you beautiful women out there suggest I start with. I need help with discipline, but once I start and get going, I keep going. it is the starting that kills me.smileys/smiley5.gif

I thought of starting by getting in the 10 day walking challenge starting on monday...

My 1 year anniversary is coming up this coming sunday (20th May) and although I will not be at my wedding day weight, I know that I've already accomplished soooo much just by starting.

Through making a commitment, writing up goals, making healthy eating choices and getting myself into a daily exercise routine -- i've been able to lose 19 pounds of fat &amp; put on about 4.5 pounds of fat burning muscle! smileys/smiley32.gif

Like you, for me the hard part was getting started. Here are some tips, that with the other ones that the girls put up, should get you started:
<UL>
<LI>Don’t think of this as something temporary. This needs to be a lifestyle turn-around/change. Something that you are going to maintain for life. That is the 1st commitment you have to take on.
<LI>Write down your goals. That way you know EXACTLY what you are striving for. Be specific about them too. 1 year goals, 6 months goals, 3 months goals, weekly goals &amp; daily goals. Post them up were they are visible &amp; refer to them as much as you need to.
<LI>Keep a food journal. I personally like to keep mine on a simple excell spread sheet... but there is nothing wrong with the online ones. Excel worksheets just work better for me.
<LI>Stay accountable. Posting on this website (or any other of yourchoosing)has helped many many people get &amp; stay in shape. The girls (&amp; guys) here will motivate you like you wouldn't believe!!!</LI>[/list]

One last little tip that I can give you... Don't look for quick fixes, (ex. Lose 10 pounds a week!, Lose 30 pounds in 30 days!!!, This pill will help you burn fat, etc...) Those are just what they are - quick fixes that just mess up your metabolism &amp; as soon as you come off that "diet" or miracle pill, your weight will start coming back on. I cannot stress this enough... make a healthy &amp; balanced lifestyle change.
Well… I hope that helps a bit. Keep on posting here and let us know how you are doing and how we can help. As you probably know, there are monthly contest for those that want to join. The May one is already in progressbut i'm sure you can join the June one.
