Default Tips on submitting to directories

How much is too much when submitting to directories? I've been submitting to 25-50 directories a week but never more than 200 directories a month. Sometimes it feels like I'm just submitting into a black hole, not knowing if a link will get approved. Any tips on managing this process?

Thanks!

Great tips on backlinking. Definitely a few that I haven't thought of yet and will have to put into action.

Thanks!

As far as quality of backlinks go, directory links are about the lowest of the low. They do not do a whole lot of good other than getting your site indexed in the search engines. If I use directories at all, I just blast about 4-500 at one time and be done with it. The search engines will never find them all at once, if they find them at all.

You won't do any harm by hitting them all at once and then moving on to other backlinking methods.

thanks for the tips on directory submissions. A few of my coupon sites have been hit with google penalty and completely taken out from google search. I've been doing forum postings and blog commenting along with directory submissions to get more backlinks. What else would you suggest I do to get back into Google.

Thanks!
