Melissa Lanier
Melissa Lanier has worked as a producer, reporter and in mid to major market television news since graduating with a degree in Mass Communications from Texas Woman’s University. She has worked in newsrooms in Corpus Christi, Dallas, San Antonio and Tyler, Texas and also spent time covering the news in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Montgomery, Alabama where she started as a general assignment reporter, but later worked the high profile courts and crime beat. She’s also worked as a producer and on-air anchor, but says she enjoys getting out in the field to meet everyday people whose stories inspire others.
The single mother of one daughter left the news business after working the early morning show at her last station in East Texas nearly five years. She moved to a public relations position that allowed her to work from home and decided that was the place she needed to be. Today she still lives in East Texas and does strategic marketing and public relations for local clients and is currently pursuing a fulltime freelance writing career for national markets.
