How to Make Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products at Home

Eco friendly cleaning products don't damage the environment when they're washed away into the drainage system. These products are safer for use because they don't contain toxic chemicals. If you use these, you will be able to clean your home without inhaling toxic fumes. Although there are a few commercially manufactured eco-friendly home cleaning products available, you can make these on your own with a help of a few ingredients.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is an ingredient that you may find in your pantry. Dissolve 4 tbsp. of baking soda in a quart of lukewarm water to make a solution that can be used to clean dirt and mildew. You can use this solution to clean your refrigerator or your bathroom. You could also place an open box of baking soda inside your refrigerator to get rid of odors.

Making Cleaning Solutions

Use lemon juice along with baking soda to make a paste that can be used to clean kitchen counters and dishes. You could also combine lemon juice with vinegar to get a solution that you can spray on your counter tops. Instead of using harsh chemicals to clean the toilet bowl, you could combine a cup of vinegar and half a cup of soda bicarbonate to make a good abrasive cleaner.

Apart from cleaning different areas of the home, you may also have to polish your hardwood furniture. Instead of buying commercial polishes, make a solution of two cups of olive oil and one cup of lemon juice.

These products are safe for use on most surfaces, but if you're in doubt, try testing them on smaller areas first.
