Did you try other businesses before you found the "right business"?

If so how many, and why didn't they work for you?

I am still looking for the right business!!! Starting last year, I tried the infamous 'Sales', you know the same kind that was described in "I Hate Sales". However I found that I HATE SALES!!! And I don't make money but I get good tax breaks and my own products at discount. Which is good if you spend a lot of money with what ever you are selling. On the other hand, for about two years now I have been struggling with trying to make money with my own homebased freelance typing/computer consulting business. It has it's ups and downs. It is getting better the more I try to organize myself and my time. Something, (I have to give credit where credit is due) I learned from the training I received from the 'Sales' Company I was recruited into. So it isn't a total loss, but I'm far from the free car!!!

I tried one other @home business and it didn't work because the lead times for projects were too tight. As a WAHM I need @ least 24 hours and this particular business wanted projects in hours. With my schedule, that's just not possible.

I've tried 5 different home business, they were expecting me make a certain amount each month, and were not pleased when I was not able to do so. Family is more important than any job, now in March of this year, I will be starting my own home occupation. Quit one of my two part-time jobs. To make this home occupation work, and still have my other part-time job. I have printed out all my family's activities, and I will work around them. I have two children ages: 10 yr boy, 6 yr. girl.

Yes, several. I tried a craft business, a mail order/envelope stuffing scam, and two network marketing businesses before I started my present business. The primary services I offer are marketing and stock photography.

The craft business (sewing little girl dresses) didn't work for me because I found I liked creating one-of-a-kind dresses and not several hundred of the same thing to be sold. The repetition nearly killed me. Both network marketing companies are reputable, but I found I wanted to sell myself and my products rather than someone else's. I wanted to do something I created rather than fulfulling someone else's dream.

The mail order/envelope stuffing scam didn't make a dime. Need I say more?

I finally learned to do what I love rather than what I could do. Now when I work, I have trouble stopping because I'm having too much fun. Thank goodness my daughter's constant presence keeps reminding me why I started this business to begin with--so I could be the one to raise her, not a stranger.
