This year, during the presidential primaries and general election, I was so invested inthe campaign that ourtelevisionshave been fixed for more than two years onCNN, MSNBC and even FOX News! Honestly, for the past several months, I could barely focus on anythingelse. I can't recall the last time I was even on this site!
Now that America has spoken, and Sen. Barack Obama is our new President Elect (YEAAAA!!!)I am overjoyed for two reasons:

First, he was certainly my candidate of choice. I worked long and hard for him to win and I am THRILLED that he did. YES WE DID!!!

Second, his win has opened up my ability to SELL TRAVEL through my travel business like never before! I have planned a fantastic bus tour package to the presidential inauguration in January that includes: round-trip transportation, hotels, tours in Washington DC to landmark sites and museums (including the Smithsonian!), 4 or 5 meals (including a buffet dinner theater) insurance, a commemorative shirt AND a customized tour DVD!

The original cost for the first 85 rooms that we've sold was only $599 (double occupancy). Now, those rooms are sold out but thank God, we just located new rooms and are determining the cost forthese new packages withbuses departing from locations around the USA.

This trip is selling like gangbusters! I am inundated with calls, but this is a GOOD THING! Talk about SELLING TRAVEL! I love it! I am so looking forward to this trip. President-Elect Barack Obama and YTB? It's a Good Thing. Just like I always believed it would be.

Regina,
Just out of curiosity --how did you market your bus tours? Wasit a tour that you planned, put together, filled --or was it from a client who already had the group and wanted you to put it together for them?

Hi, I'm not Regina, obviously, but in discussion w/ her I know she put her initial group together w/ the "if you build it they will come" concept. She had been working on the Obama campaign and alot of people had expressed interest in going to the inaugurationso she actually started working on it even before the election and pretty much had everything in place and contacted one of our vendors after Pres. elect Obama won and the rest is history!
Or at least it will be history! Quite a few of YTB RTAs are having bus tours as a matter of fact.
She has been doing so well with it that you can't even hold a decent conversation with her on the phone. Its ringing off the hook!
Did you plan a bus trip for the inauguration?Edited by: Gailtravel

Hey Denyse! Thanks!!! These bus tours are awesome! The money you can make with them is REALLY good too. And the best part? The vendor put all the pieces together. All I had to do was to tap into the right market. Like Rick Ricketts puts it, I was looking for people who were looking for me and since I was a volunteer for the campaign, they were right in front of my face! I am loving being a YTB RTA even more now than ever! And remember, NOW we get 70% of the commissions!YEAH!!!Edited by: Income Magnet

Hi Troy,

I started out, as Gail said, marketing the info to people I knew because this would be a specialized bus tour and people for Barack Obama supporters. Most of the people I know fit into this category, so I started with them and w/the people who were volunteering w/me on the campaign. Then I put the info online, and it went viral. That's when my phone started ringing off the hook and I had to call and get my phone plan changed.

Our vendor did all the work though. They are also in YTB and they put the whole package together just based on my input (what I wanted...tours, meals, etc.). After they put it together for me, they shared it w/others in YTB, and as Gail said, the rest is history.

Thanks great! I've always wanted to do bus trips --how do you handle deposits and payments?

Denyse, you are a wiz with those graphics!

We also have buses departing from Memphis, TN, Jackson, TN, Atlanta, GA and Northfolk VA by way of Austin, TX.

Credit card deposits can be paid via a credit authorization form directly to our vendor's corporate office. Checks and money orders are made payable to the vendor and are sent to them.
