Default So Confused ... Where is all my tax info?

So I have only gotten tax info from Textbroker and another company, and I know there should be much more....

Isn't Paypal sending out tax documents and I also am wondering why I got a W2 for my Ehow earnings but not DS earnings.

I am so confused and my husband and I are meeting with our tax guy Friday!

Companies only send out 1099s if they pay you $600 or more during the year. PP only sends out 1099s for people who had 200 or more payments AND $20,000 in income. For those companies that don't send you a 1099, you just enter it as income not reported on a 1099, AFAIK.

Additionally, most non-usa based companies don't send out 1099's...

PayPal doesn't send out any tax documents because it is simply payment processor. The only time you would get a tax document from them is if you actually worked for them as a contractor or employee. It's just like your bank. The bank won't send you any either unless its money you earned on interest for the year.

If you do not make more than $600 you won't receive a 1099 at all. I am a tax preparer and I do IC taxes throughout the year. Some of my clients did do contract work with DS and Ehow and its the same issue with them. The only answer we have received (at least from the H&R Block head office) is that DS is a mixed bag. If you only had articles published on ehow then you will only get an ehow 1099 (from what we can tell). If you wrote for Livestrong through DS you would get one from there. If you wrote for other DS branches then you would get one from DS itself but only if you made $600 or more.

If you worked for non-US companies they may or may not provide you with a 1099 but probably not because they don't utilize them over there. So, for those you would have to treat it as misc. earnings with no documentation and keep up with it on your own so you can report it. If you got paid through paypal though you can go back and check your invoices there. I would though always print out a monthly statement from paypal for tax purposes. They only let you go back so far and if you have the print out it makes tax season a lot easier.

I hope that helps lol

Due to new IRS regulations, PayPal does have to send out form 1099-K to anyone who had at least 200 transactions AND a total of $20,000 in payments via debit/credit card/electronic transfer for 2011.

If you do not receive 1099(s) from certain companies, just report the income. Keep your income records just in case you have to prove that you earned that amount.

I got a big fat nothing..not one form from anyone. Did anyone who worked for MC get theirs? I made over 1,000 there, so I should've gotten one.
