I know someone that has tried advertising on his car and he said he had a couple of calls. He had a magnetic card on the door and has had semi permanent stickers on the bonnet.
The only thing I would say is that if you are going to advertise your telephone number on your car, don't go cutting people up and hurling abuse at people! Not that people do that sort of thing of course...
