How are things going at WiseGeek?

Are you seeing a steady number of titles, or is the title count steadily decreasing? Do you still find it to be a reliable source of income, and do you think that most of the titles are not too difficult to write?

Are you optimistic about WiseGeek's future?

They're done with producing new articles, I'm pretty sure. They offer other roles now, for updating their existing content.

Dear AG1976,

Why are you so sure that they're not creating new content? Also, how are they recruiting those who will update the content?

They have stopped creating new titles. The writers cannot claim or write any more. Instead, they are letting current writers test into new roles so they can add updated content and videos to existing articles. They said they hope to hire all the current writers into these roles, but if they have to, they will eventually hire from outside. Many current writers have not even tested for these positions yet, so I would assume they won't be hiring for a while. I know am not counting on any income from there for at least another month since I assume it will take some time to test and start working. But you may start seeing that they are hiring in the next few months or so, depending on if current writers fill all the roles or not. Hope this helps.

The writers were informed of this back in December (How Does wiseGEEK Plan to Improve?).

The current writers and editors will be testing for the new roles, such as updating the content.

Ditto what they said. The articles have been closed, and now there are two new positions we can test for. One is Video Coordinator (right?). This would be finding videos to go with current articles and writing summaries of them. The other role is that of curator. This person would add more information to existing articles, edit the content for quality, etc... Both new roles will still require editors. They say the VC role will pay about the same as what writers were making, and curators will earn the same as the average editor.

But yes. The articles are gone.
