Default Disaster

Ok, so I have to post this here where someone might understand. I got a VERY LARGE check from a client today for an ebook I ghostwrote. It was sitting on my piano. My daughter was playing with a craft punch (she is three) and decided to punch some big holes in the check. Called hte bank and the only option is for the client to cancel payment then resend. I had to ask for that. So embarrassing. The child knows she's not supposed to play with the mail, but obviously has no idea about checks, so I had to try to respond well even though I was so upset. I guess the day can only get better, right? I am just sick about this!

Believe it or not, this one of those things you'll really look back on and laugh about, like keys in the toilet or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches stuffed in the VCR.

Oh wow. That sucks I think I would be sad and not so much angry since your daughter is so young. They really have no self control at that age. Hopefully you get your check soon!

Sounds like something that many kids have probably done! I hope your client was understanding!

I agree! My daughter has broken my nook, my computer, several phones....It just takes a minute for them to get into everything

My daughter once ate a couple of paper name tags that I was ready to leave the house with when I was an event planner. Needless to say, I had to show up a couple name tags shy, and they just happened to be the speakers. oops. I definitely laugh about it now, but I know how stressful that can be "in the moment". One of the joys of parenthood is also inevitably that that can give us nervous breakdowns in the middle of a perfectly good day.

I scared her when I screamed (not in anger, just in shock) and then I sent her to her room until I calmed down. Once I was calm (we were relying on that check this week so I am not sure what's gonna happen there) we talked about mommy's mail and how we are not supposed to play with mommy's mail. Ugh. I'm seriously still sick about it. The client said "I will check on it" but was not overly understanding. I will have to eat any fees he is charged by his bank for this (my offer). It was already a horrible day for a variety of reasons and this was just the icing on the cake. We ended the day with hugs and snuggles though.

I can imagine how you feel. When my son broke my computer and my backup was moving slow I almost had a heart attack. I have never had an issue with the mail though there are certain rooms in my home where the kids are not allowed so I keep all important mail in their in a drawer or out of their reach.

Yeah, we have a tiny house and there are few places she can't reach (she's really tall and really good at climbing). But, I think she got the picture because she asked me repeatedly "Is this ok" about other papers she wanted to craft with. This has never happened before and of course it had to be the huge check for two months worth of work!

I remember years ago, my daughter, three at the time, was in the driveway drawing with chalk. My husband and I were raking grass clumps and heard the worst noise ever - fingernails on the chalkboard type of sound. She'd gotten bored with the chalk and had picked up a rock and started to draw pictures on the side of my husband's car.

Kids just do things like that. I think every parent could tell a story about something their son or daughter has done that was completely maddening.
