I will feel much better when I know the check is on the way, if you know what I mean. She obviously didn't mean to be destructive, but what are the chances out of the huge pile of mail she grabbed the check? I have a client that pays monthly by check and this has never happened, and I put the checks in the same place usually on their way to the bank.

Things like that happen. Hopefully, your client will understand. I'm sure your day will get better from here.

I'm sooo sorry. Mine have done stuff where I want to just pull my hair out at the moment. I know that being dependent on that money only makes it more stressful. Hopefully the client will send a new check ASAP.

The joys of parenting. All children do something at some point that drive their parents close to the edge.

I have a special rule about mail in my house. If it gets set down on the coffee table she's free to shred it, because it's only going into the fire bin anyway. Any paper not set there or on her little desk is not to be touched. This rule went into being when she ripped up a stack of notes I'd taken while I was working on a book. A roll of tape and two hours later I had the rule up. The biggest problem with the rule is my husband keeps forgetting what she can and can't play with. Oh well, he'll get it someday.

Anyway, I'm sure things will get better for you. Things always look better after they are resolved, and years from now you'll be able to look back and laugh.

Oh, I can only imagine how stressed you must feel!

I wonder if the holes aren't as bad as you fear. Maybe if you take it to the bank in person, they'll look at it and decide it's ok to cash. Or maybe you can pull the paper dots out of the punch and tape them back into place?

In the meantime, {{{hugs}}}. Hope your day gets better!

no, I called and talked to our friend at the bank and she said because of the amount, they won't be able to process it if the account numbers were what was cut (and they were).

It might be a good idea to keep those things out of her reach.

Kids just do things like that. I think every parent could tell a story about something their son or daughter has done that was completely maddening.
This reminds me of the time my niece scratched my name into her dads (my brother) brand new Caravan. I thought he was gonna stroke out. lol.
She was so happy about it too. She was just learning to spell at the time and was just tickled with herself for figuring out how to spell my name.
