Sometimes a migraine is a result of low potassium levels. I'm a big proponent of alternative medicine, mostly because I can't take synthetic drugs. I have found upping my potassium levels helps without any side effects.

I agree with the chiropractor advice. When my neck gets out of whack, it gives me bad headaches. I also found that getting new glasses helped.

I get migraines from the computer a lot. My eyes also kill after a few hours especially in allergy season. Whenever I have the option, I adjust the background to be more of an off white/ yellowish color and the text to be softer than plain black. The extreme contrast of black and white really bugs me. I also have been using read aloud software as part of my editing/ revising process, so I don't have to concentrate on the screen as much. frequent "eye breaks" where I put a cool cloth over my eyes for a minute or two every hour or so also help.

It is a free program that changes the color temperature of your monitor based on the time of day. It has done wonders for my eye strain and let to reduced frequency in my minor headaches. It's especially great if you are the type to write during the evening as it will slowly transition from 'cool' to 'warm' without you really noticing...
Thanks. I am heading over to check this out now.

I get migraines too from time to time. These headaches can definitely put a wrench in your writing productivity. I used to get them more frequently until I started going to the chiropractor. It is hard to find a good one, but once I did, I started having less and less migraines. I also take a magnesium, calcium, zinc combination supplement and drink at least 48 oz. of water per day. This and taking lots of mental breaks can help to keep these headaches at bay. Stress can be a number one trigger for migraines, so trying to meditate or doing yoga for even like 15 minutes a day in quiet can help. These are all things I have had success with after 20 years of battling migraines. I hope you find a solution, because they really suck
