I made a lot more than that when I was working as a technical writer, but when the local plant was sold, that job ended. I've had four or five work-at-home writing gigs since, but none have paid enough to make a living. I keep looking, though, and eventually the right one will come along, I hope.

I said "Heck Yeah." LOL. As if the .04 per word wasn't enough of an incentive, the fact that additional training and mentoring is being made available to those most-committed to taking on extra work is absolutely stellar. Being established and committed writers themselves, they have obviously found ways to improve the client/writer relationship, keep everyone energized and motivated, and fairly compensate each of us. Taking it to the next level by creating an on-going article base instead of (what seemed to be) a short-term gig initially is SO exciting! Thank you for the opportunity writermomma and "Doc!"

My first point is on topic...

Don't be offended when you're not selected for a specific position. Remember that every writer has his or her own unique style. Your style may not have been a great fit for this particular position. I've never yet met a single writer who has never been passed over for a position.

My second point is off topic a bit...

If you have technical writing experience you should check out Dice.com - Job Search for Technology Professionals. They often have ads for technical writing positions - many of them are "telecommute" friendly.

Question:

When this gig gets up and running...When do writers get paid?

My guess is that we will get information on that as they start establishing guideslines, etc. I would imagine that there are a lot of logistics involved right now in figuring out how to make this work and run as smoothly as possible, as this was not what the original plan was.

My phone autocorrected to "he'll yea!", but I'm sure you got the idea

It may be a little late, but I decided to apply as well. I've sent over an email with my resume as attachment and a link to my website. Thanks for posting this.

Any recent updates since the email about Skype contacts? Just want to make sure something didn't end up in my spam folder and get deleted in the last couple of weeks.
