Default Am I doing something wrong here?

So, I am kind of frustrated. I feel as though I work hard and always turn my work in on time. I know I'm not a terrible writer so I think it has to be my approach. I have been posting on CL a lot and no hits. Usually I get some hits for clients. Any tips out there? Sorry, I know everyone has their own issues right now but I am just wondering if I am doing something wrong...

Thanks so much!

It may have nothing to do with how you are composing the ads. A lot of people took Monday off as their official New Years Day holiday and are still struggling to get back into the swing of things after the triple whammy of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve. If that's the case, you should begin seeing more responses by next week.

I agree with the PP. If you don't see results STILL, it's hard to say if you could be doing something wrong without seeing what your ad says. I would toy around with various wording and see if that makes any changes. I've done that with email campaigns, and sometimes changing just a few short words can make a huge impact on response rates.

I know your writing, so it's not that.

Honestly, I think part of it is the holidays, people still aren't getting into the swing of things. Then there's the issue of tax season being on top of us and companies are starting to delve into all that aspect. Most importantly, sites like DS have hinted that they're going to radically be changing things, Merchant Circle has fired a number of writers again and it's left a lot of writers looking for work. The last job ad post I put in led to more than 150 responses just from one post here at WAHM, I can't even imagine how many I'd get if I posted elsewhere, so there's a lot of competition out there.

All the pp are right on... It's the season. I just came back from the holidays, too, and when I contacted my private clients (especially the ones I know have weekly work for me), they have all been dragging their feet to pass me my work. Totally not typical.

Keep you head up! It should start getting better by next week!

After losing DMS, BrightHub, and a content mill (didn't shut down but drastically cut rates below my acceptable level) I have put out a goal of applying to x number of things a day. I actually had to stop because I am sitting on so many test articles! I did a major tweaking of my cover letters with some help from some online writer friends, and it is working! Maybe take a look at your cover letter? It has to really "pop" in these conditions, and you have to keep the client's need for you as the entire focus. Not 'I will do xzy" but "you need xyz, here's why, and here's how I can help!" I am still getting plenty of rejections, but the positive responses are flooding in now that I tweaked my cover letter.

I do think that many clients are recovering from the holidays, as another poster mentioned. Keep your head up and do not give up. If you keep at it, you will see more positive results soon! I wish I had more specific info for you, but it seems like you know what you are doing already!
