I claimed an assignment from Contently last week, wrote it and submitted on Dec 31 (it had a due date of Jan 1). This is the first article I have written for Contently.
It is still sitting there under editor review, although I am sure with the holidays, their editors haven't been working. How long does it usually take to hear back from them? I claimed another article which is due on Jan 4, but I am hesitant to start writing without hearing back on the first article. I don't want to be totally off-track with my writing. How long does it take them to pay, and how frequently? Do they have available assignments very often? Would love to hear from anyone writing for Contently. |

I wrote a number of articles for them when they started up, but then the assignments just stopped showing up. Review times varied from a few hours to a few days, and they did pay out very easily then. However, I have no idea what the site is like now.

Hi all,
I wanted to clear a few things up. First, we really appreciate everyone who was with us when we first started. There are some great folks here on WAHM, and we certainly got a lot of help in the early days. In May, we decided to refine our focus quite a bit. Instead of working with any client who needed content, we started working only with reputable brands and publishers who could pay for great journalism. In turn, we had to refine our pool of writers, which required a new screening process. An email went out about this at the time, and that's the reason for having to sign up for a new account. Today, any writer can still sign-up, but we require that they have written for a well-known publication to be active in our network. What I can say, without a doubt, is that all writers were paid for their work. We pride ourselves on getting our writers paid quickly, and the last thing we would ever do is stiff a writer. If anyone believes otherwise, I'd be happy to discuss it with them. Finally, to your questions mitako, it usually takes 2-3 days to get an assignment through editorial review and on to the client. After it's approved, you can cash out immediately via PayPal. We have new assignments all the time. If you're added to multiple projects, the best way to get new work is to submit story ideas to the publishers (which are almost always accepted, as long as they're reasonable). Let me know if you have any questions -- hope this helps! Joe |
