Default Really?

I came across something that I thought might bring you a good laugh for the moment. Recently, I received an email for a job at the rate of $1.50 for 400 words. The potential customer stated that he had 100 articles and felt that the price was fair because it would bring in a lot of money. (lol) I feel like since the Christmas season is approaching these clients are simply trying to stack up their last minute cash while treating us like slaves. The things people ask sometimes. However, it did bring a good laugh.

Lol this guy randomly contacted me through gmail chat and said that he found my name on oDesk and asked if I could do 75 articles a day, 300 words each for $75.00. I laughed hysterically and responded no thank you and gave him my rates, and he said he could find plenty writers to work for that low rate. Unfortunately he probably did.

That is crazy! Most of the rates on oDesk make me want to cry.

Odesk does have some pretty funny rates. This one guy sends me an invitation to write an ebook once a week but he only want to pay $80. I wish one of these days he would understand that my mind is not going to change later down the line.

I think my favorite was the 500 word articles for $2.50 each. I contacted the person before I knew the rates. He wanted you to install at least one chat program and keep it running all day, so he could contact you with rewrites/edits and apparently multiple edits were required. This was back when I first started and averaging twice that for shorter articles on pageview sites LOL.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but funmom, it appears English is not your native language. Until you improve (and I'm sure you will!) I don't think you will be able to find high paying writing jobs unless they are for work written in your native language. I am not trying to be mean, honest. Your posts have a lot of grammar errors and incorrect word choices (right instead of write for example) that the editor in me noticed.

Not to be rude but when I post here usually it is upon waking up and I do not feel the need to edit and proofread a forum post. But fyi I have a lot of decent paying clients and I do not have to work for $1.50 per 400 words. So, for you to say that I am not an American I find that very rude when I am positive that my profile indicates I am in the U.S. So, with that being said, you are not someone that I have to please. My clients like my work, they send me repeat work, and I make enough each and every month to cover my expenses. So, that is all that matters to me.

This thread was posted for people who were having a rough day to take the edge off a little with something I found funny. Not for people, like yourself, to try and bring negative vibes into the mix. So, what there are errors? This is not a job response to someone and neither is it a job application. When people post on forums I do not think that they are going to go through and proofread their responses unless they are hoping to gain employment from the forum - which I am not.

BTW. Have a nice day

Fun Mom-

Im sorry someone was so rude to you. I don't edit my forum posts either.

Don't worry about what others have to say.

I read your blog every so often and I think you have come a long way in a short amount of time. Your November numbers were very impressive and you accomplished everything with two small kids to take care of. I am also your friend on FB and I have never seen anything to indicate that you are not a native English speaker.

I know that my forum posts, texts, FB etc. are much more lax than my professional writing. Just because we are writers, doesn't mean we have to be perfect all of the time. When I am on here, I am typically typing quickly as a break in between other things.

I say keep doing what you are doing. I never thought for a second you have to settle for only low paying jobs. You are brave enough to share your work breakdown with the world in your blog and I think you are actually an inspiration for a lot of moms out there.

Keep it up and have a blessed holiday
