That's not unusual.

Ah but they didn't specify what quality
. Seriously, though, these jobs make me sad. I'm guessing that non native speakers write them or native speakers take them and churn out quick and dirty, unresearched nonsense, and if the job poster is satisfied with that, the more power to him/her. If not, maybe he will offer better pay in the future.

I was recently contacted by someone who was interested in my writing services. I typically charge anywhere between 0.01-0.02 per word when it comes to niches/subjects I am not too familiar with. He responded back stating that he is currently paying his writer 0.0050 (I think) or 0.0075 per word and if I could please match that...
HA I said uhhh no. He then told me "Well, 0.01 is not much higher." Well, when it comes to $3.75 vs $5 for a 500 word article I know nothing about, I would rather take the higher paying price! LOL Needless to say, I am not working for him. *Please no bashing on what I charge. Works perfectly fine for me. Thankkkk you* |

The funny part is the demand for quality and how picky the people can be.

The sad part is, they probably do find people who accept those terms. I see so much obvious ESL writing around the web now. It smacks of "I don't care so I'll hire anyone" to me, and I wouldn't trust any of the information I find on those sites, but they must make money somehow or they wouldn't shlock up the web.

Coming from someone who isn't a writer in the slightest bit, but rather more of a marketing background... I'm going to guess this person got used to paying someone who used an article spinner. I could never see myself paying a friggin dollar for *actual* hand written content. For an article spinner/generator, yes - but not for a human being

I was duped like this on freelancer... It was my mistake by not reading the fine print before accepting the job. I spent about 6 hours on the project and made $8.00. Needless to say, I finished the job just because I said that I would, but I won't be working for them again.

Yeah. If I was going to make a living in this area at 1 cent a word, I calculated I would have to work 10 hours a day, seven days a week, JUST billable hours.
(Needless to say I wouldn't try to do it). |
