Default anyone write with hyperink?

I submitted an application and resume. They say you can author or co-author ebooks for $200-$400 plus royalties. Here's the link:
Hyperink — eBooks You'll Love

The ad was on mediabistro. Can I link directly to it?

I don't think it's against the rules to link to a valid job lead.

But anyway, this looks pretty interesting. I like how they give you upfront payment in addition to royalties. And they'll take non-fiction, which is right up my alley.

For some reason, this smells of a scam to me, but I can't put my finger on exactly why. They're too new to have any kind of reputation yet. So, I'm going to hold off and see what happens with them.

Hrmmm this is interesting to me as well. I looked for scams relating to this company and couldn't find anything......I looked around on the site but didn't see anything about the 200-400...where did you see that?

Thumbs up So far, so good!

I just finished a project (different type - writing a book summary for their "Quicklets" section) and Brandon has been very nice and supportive so far, and very thorough in communications and explaining exactly what is expected.

I am supposed to be getting paid half of the promised payment now that I've submitted the first rough draft and the remainder upon acceptance of the whole thing, following any revisions. This project will also pay royalties monthly on sales of the particular "Quicklet" I wrote.

I'll let you know how this goes!

I am applying now, for the question that asks if I want to co-author or "write it myself" what should I select? KLee which option do you work under?

How much do those pay? Book summaries would interest me, since they are relatively close to catalog copy. Plus, I see job ads for those all the time, but I don't have the experience to go for a big pub house. How did you apply for that gig?

You're right, just saw this: Hyperink Spam

Looks like they post poorly-formatted content on the kindle store and post fake reviews and author names.

I don't know anything about this mess you have posted, but I think it's rather rude of you to make comments like this.

The book summary I just finished writing (and got paid my one-half deposit for completing the first draft acceptably), I can assure you, was WELL WRITTEN. If I get an opportunity to write ebooks, those will also be well-written.

Perhaps you should take a look at some of their other information and talk to others who actually write for Hyperink before making uninformed judgments. Yes, they are a startup business model for ebooks, but it seems to me if they got the attention of Forbes, they have begun to establish a good reputation.

Forbes on Hyperink - article on startup ebook model
Hyperink - main site
Hyperink Quicklet - sample sections of "Outliers" Quicklet
