Hi guys,
I'm looking for some new and relevant topics to blog about so I'd like your input. What do you want to know about social media? Anything goes!

Perhaps this is simply to verify that you know how to use them. But my social media sites are private, and some social media sites (Facebook, I think) frown on having more than one account or it is not allowed by their terms of service.

Thanks dmcgaw -- I think addressing social media in your blog will result in some interesting posts and rich conversations.
I second this! I have been wondering about this same issue.

I have wondered that too, and have suspected many of these organizations want to leverage your social media network, so I have stayed away from those types of things.

1. I agree with the 1st 2 posters... I don't want my clients to read about my potty training efforts with my 15 month old... conversations about tinkle just don't seem too professional - LOL

2. I have been reading alot about celebs who are quitting FB or twitter or whatever... I have also been reading stuf about twitter being "over"...

3. I think you could list the pros and cons of each.. linkd (or whatever it is) for biz... new jobs checking FB, house break-ins due to twitter etc....

Thanks so much everyone. I will make sure to do the post on keeping private and professional separate asap - I am already thinking of some great ways to do this.

And I have a guest poster that will be coming to talk about using LinkedIn for business purposes. Hopefully in the next week?

I think that some of them will want you to use your own social networks to promote what you write for them while others will just want to know that you know how to use social media. If you're applying for jobs that involve managing social media I think you need to have accounts that can demonstrate that. If they are hiring someone to manage their social media strategies, why would they hire someone who is not even utilizing it for business purposes.

I'll have a blog post up and ready in the next day or two for you though.

Mine is not a question, but a topic I would love to see a social media expert address. It seems that whenever a new social media platform becomes popular, we start seeing the "follow me" applications, and ebooks on how to get a gazillion followers. For me, it destroys the entire experience. Not to mention that it has little, if any, value from what I can tell.

I would love to see some topics on that.

So, bloggergal, do you mean when should you actually jump in and when should you let it ride and see where it goes?

I'm not really sure what you mean...

I have 2 facebook sites. One is private for friends and family, the other is public where I post links to my published articles.

Sorry, what I meant was, does using automated following applications actually do a person any good, or are they merely collecting a lot of followers who aren't really interested in anything they have to say?
