...and by writing online I mean using blogger, Wordpress and other online text editors. A lack of a mouse, flash and a file system to load images makes writing on the iPad online a pain.

We have two touchpads and I used one to write 100 words of a TB article tonight. It was pretty irritating. I should mention that I don't like any "touch" things because I don't seem to get along with them well. My mom had an HTC (the big one, an Evo maybe?) and my hubby has an LG Optimus and I hate them both. I chose a BB curve because I can still navigate things without having to deal with touch screens. That said, it will be better to take along for the ride than my laptop and allow me to get some work done while we are out.

When my aunt died last year and my brother and I drove down to CT to support our mom and attend the funeral and wake, I used his iPad to try to work while he drove. It was NOT a fun experience. The keyboard is way to small, so my usual 80wpm speeds were down to about 20 wpm with the hunt and peck.

I dislike onscreen keyboards so I'd rather use a cheap netbook than an iPad any day. I have an iPod Touch, which is pretty much a mini iPad, and I love it for things like reading Kindle Books and even watching Netflix, but for writing I want a real keyboard. Netbooks are convenient and inexpensive so that's the route I go.

I find even my laptop keyboard is a bit small for really comfortable, extended writing sessions. I'd love to have an iPad for surfing the Internet though.
