Default Free Website?

Hi, where can you get a free website--no monthly fees or strings attached? I have heard of tripod.com is it legit?

weebly.com is better. No ads either. webs.com(formerly freewebs.com) is excellent and easy to use but you agree to ads on your site. If you didn't want ads, you have to pay $1.25 a month. There are so many cool apps you can include for those two as well. You can even sell things on your site with their ecommerce apps. I loved it before I studied more technical aspects and advanced to my own paid hosting.
I believe Bravehost is also free but not sure of the apps on there.

Tripod's been around for a while and, yes, they're legit. Also take a look at Yola, Weebly and DevHub.

I like Yola and find theyre banner at the end of your page, advertising their free web service, a trade off for the space they're giving me.

Yeah. My website is hosted by Yola for free. All I paid for is the 2 year deal for booking my own domain which was $36.70. However, there are cheaper deal than what I paid for. Who knows about two years down the road. I might go somewhere else when I am close to the end of my 2 year deal. For now, Yola is good enough.
I never heard of Devhub but all the other ones, I know about them for quite some time. Good luck on figuring which hosting company to use.

I also recommend webs.com, I have built a few hobby sites with them and their apps are excellent.

Cool

What is the purpose of the website? Personal use, business use, etc.. There are many options available to you but each depend on the primary intended use and what you hope to accomplish.

I have free hosting without any ads for my Freelance Writer Road website. But, I'm not sure of the name of it!! I got it from LAGROUCH, here on the blogging board. He's been very helpful when I've had questions or problems!

I would like to start it out as a personal site to get followers then have it be a place where I can sell a book I am planning on publishing down the road.
