Rita,

Unless things have changed you can only have 10 articles in your queue at any given time INCLUDING those waiting to be approved.

So even if you do write 10 in a day, chances are high that they're not going to be approved before several days have passed. Until approved, you can't take any more

I would also suggest checking out writersweekly.com and the Writer's Market book. (If cost is an issue you can go to Abebooks and buy last years version. You can get it for a lot cheaper that way)

Yep and didn't get it - that's the 2nd time I've been turned down and I don't know why. The email says they really liked my article. I don't have a degree in anything that has to do with writing - I have a computer science degree - The first resume I sent them was my computer, etc. resume (dummy me) - I made up a freelance writing resume and listed all of the sites I write for, etc. but still got turned down. I just don't know how to get on with them - seems so many people are. I have been accepted at every other place I have applied for and all of them have praised my writing ability. I don't guess I can apply again - I applied twice using different email addresses. Any tips? Does everyone have to have a certain type of college degree or what?

I am sorry to hear that. I would do anything to be able to get in with them too! Hang in there

I have a very similar problem with DS they said they enjoyed the writing I had sent in but that they didn't think that they could provide me anything in my field that I'd enjoy. I have a Degree in Communications and Children's Lit with a minor in Health Communications. I know DS has health articles so it seems a little odd. I figure I'll wait and build up more samples maybe them saying it was just a nice way to let me down I don't know.

I noticed with Break Studios that the type of articles are a bit odd and maybe I'm signing on at the wrong time but I don't see a steady update of articles from them.

I agree that DS and Break Studios are good places to write. The pay is good, especially with Demand Studios. However, if you do get in, you have to carefully read and familiarize yourself with the guidelines because the editors are very picky and can be rude too. I have had my experience with some rude ones. Break Studios editors are really nice so I can't complain there. The only thing I do complain about with Break Studios is that they don't have a lot of interesting titles right now. None that I am interested in anyway. I have 6 spots open to claim articles and I can't find even one that I can do. They are both good to work for though when it comes to pay.

I would also suggest you try out for the How to team at mahalo. You pick one rush week task to do and if they like it, they will put you on the How to team. The only thing you have to worry about there is they require 800 words for the article. 200 words in the introduction, 200 each in the steps. They also have weird formatting. I wrote an article on How to Roll a Cigarette and they approved it and I got on the How to team. It wasn't easy but I got over 1,000 words in it because I talked about the different kinds of tobacco, different kinds of papers, and the process of rolling the cigarette. It was a little hard but I did it.

Anyway, once you get approved for the How to team you can pick as many how to's as you want. If you choose them from the How to menu, you only have three days to do them. But if you contact a vertical manager in the niche you want to write about, they will assign you a bulk of how to's to get done in 6 weeks. I am new there but as far as I know you get $7 per article and revenue share. You can't cash out until you get $150 Mahalo dollars. I don't know how that is converted into real money but I do know one of my friends is making $1,000 per month there. She was promoted to vertical manager and she does real good. Try them out! Do you have to be accepted before writing a how to? I do not understand the rush week.

Thanks!!

Ok what you do is sign up at mahalo.com and create a free account. Then you go to mahalo tasks and click on open rush week tasks. Go through the rush week how to tasks and claim one task to write. Make sure you have 800 words or more, do all their weird formatting, and submit within three days. I can't explain the formatting but if you do write one for them you can send me your article and I will help you with the formatting. I will do the formatting for you and send it back. It is easier to show than tell.

They will approve or reject and even if it gets approved, it still might not get you into the team. However, if you do all the formatting right and the word count, it should get you into the team. Once you get into the team, you can choose as many how to's as you want and even ask a VM to assign you a bulk how to tasks to have done within 6 weeks. The bulk tasks would be on the topic of your choice.

If you try it, email me at Marissa.M.Wilson@gmail.com and I will help you with it. I had help with my second one from my friends who have been there for a while and that is what helped me get into the team.
