Does anybody know how many articles do you have to get published before they increase your quota for claiming titles?

They periodically review writers to increase your que, I don't believe there is a set number or time when this review is done though.
If you are a new writer, after your first 10 articles are approved you can claim a new title everytime you sumit an article to be reviewed. So you can have 20 sitting to be reviewed and still have 10 in your que. |

After I reached 100 articles, I sent an email to the editorial team asking them to increase my queue. They reviewed it and increased it to 15.

Emailing them does sound like a good idea.
