Published my first book to Amazon...have a question?

I am so excited I used Createspace to publish my first book to Amazon.

At the moment it is only "visable" in my Createspace estore as I was told it could take up to 8 weeks for it to be searchable on Amazon. I can't believe it takes that long for a newly published book to be searchable on Amazon. Doesn't that seem long?

Anyone who has published books on Amazon can you tell me how long it took your books to be searchable on Amazon? Maybe they are just saying longer than it really takes.

Congrats on the book. It's always such a thrill to publish something new.

I only ever published through the kindle store, but It seems that it shouldn't take soooo long to become available. I guess you could take this down tiime to promote it and link to your page to buy it. You can call it a preorder since it's going to take so long. At least that's what I'd do.

Charmed - Thanks and to answer your question...I plan on promoting my book online using my author website. I will also be creating a blog for the book in order to discuss the book with readers. I have already posted one time on Facebook about my book and intend to also use Twitter. I'm going to look into online places such as Author's Den, Shelfari, and Goodreads to list my book. I need to also look into listing my book on Yahoo group. I have put my book in my signature for outgoing emails and for forum postings.

Any other suggestions for online book promoting?

For promotion Social Media is a good idea. Steve Weber has a book out called Plug Your Book that covers a lot of territory with great tips and ideas on how to promote you book online.
