Question What's the Best Revenue Sharing Site?

I'd like to start building residual income through a revenue share site and am curious which ones are best. Any opinions?

Which ones tend to have the best payouts? Does it take more time and effort to write for those sites? Do they seem to have fair business practices? (I'm a little wary given the recent issues with eHow.)

Thanks for your insight!

If you don't want to try eHow , I'd go for HubPages and Squidoo.

Well eHow is moot anyway, because no one can publish right now. eHow is a good place to learn and get started, I would just be clear that it's for training purposes and not income. The income is gravy.

Hubpages and Squidoo are slow and will require lots of backlinks. You'll have 6 to 9 months before content 'matures' in the search engines. Plus you need your own adsense account.

I would suggest targeting Suite 101.

Personally I would maybe do 50 articles on ehow. Then put together some samples for Suite and apply there.

I would focus on Suite until I was comfortable with their requirements, format, business model etc... I would also set up a Blogger blog (for fun, any topic) and write sporadically on it with the goal of using it get my adsense account.

And then branch out into Hubpages, Squidoo, Infobarrel etc...

Hope that helps.

I second the Suite101 comment. Though I haven't quite made it to 50 articles yet, my earnings per article are higher than what they are over at Ehow right now. Once you get the feel for it, it really does become easy submitting articles over there and the editors that I've dealt with are very helpful. (Unlike DS!)

I like Hubpages too. I haven't had much success with Squidoo, but I haven't put a whole lot of time in over there either.

I would agree that Suite 101 and Ehow have some of the highest payouts of any of the revenue sharing sites. I found Squidoo to be a waste of time. I still write for Suite 101 and Ehow, but have branched out into other markets. Don't sell yourself short. There are lots of opportunities to make money writing. Suite 101 and Ehow are good sites for getting started and building up your confidence. Best of luck to you. :-)

Thanks for the great information, everyone. I've been working for Demand Studios for about six weeks, and I think I can make decent money there - but we want to have another baby in the next year or two, and I'd like to have some residual income so I can take time off for that. I submitted a couple of articles to eHow this weekend, but they've just been sitting there awaiting approval, and I've since read that there are a lot of problems going on over that way right now.

WriterM, you mentioned setting up a Blogger account and posting sporadically with the goal of getting an Adsense account. Do you have to have an established blog to get an Adsense account? Are there specific requirements?

Erika:

I just used my personal blog that I already had. Google owns Blogger.com which supposedly makes it easier to get an Adsense account.

There are other paths to Adsense, but that is what I did. It was super easy.

I think it's good you're starting out now, you'll need a 6 months to a year to really get rolling.

Here is a Graph made by the owner of Crunchydata.com:

http://crunchydata.com/compare-content-sites.htm

From THIS blog post:
Chart to Compare Various Content Sites – The Content Writer | Writing Online for Residual Income

Others have recommended "eHow", however, on THAT blog post, the original blogger says about her graph:

"Also note that Life123 is missing–they have stopped hiring writers. And eHow and Demand Media are missing because they are managed unethically and I cannot recommend them to my readers."

I'd recommend you start trying multiple sites and see which one works best for you.
